I purchased a budget Bi-Xenon HID kit from ebay. (Has hi/low beam)
Was $160 delivered.

Being my 3rd HID kit install, it still took me close to 1hr to install it (first time on a KJ).
The ballast units are mounted in a ghetto way. Basically the brackets are clamped between the front 1/4 panel and the body.

Overview:
Not much room in the KJ to mount the ballast units. My method is not reliable but they seem secure for now. I'll be keeping an eye on them over the Coffs weekend trip. 4300k on this unit seems to have a tinge of pink so if I were to buy again from this guy I'd go 5000k. I would also go a H4 low beam only (use spotties as your hi-beam LOL), as the bi-xenon kits, the rear of the bulb is exceptionally big and the big rubber cover does not fit back on 100% without inverting the center section of it.

I was lazy and did not pull the headlights out. If you have bigger hands than me then you will need to pull the headlights out or employ a child/midget/dwarf for the job.

After all that I can now see on the road. Road signs on the left hand side light up really brightly and it does not seem to be glaringly bright to other road users (this maybe due to my rear being slightly higher than my front).

Very interesting Ed, so what are the ballast units for (extra power?). Not being silly but can you do that with getting new globes?

Lucky I'm a midget dwarf with very small hands  it may come in handy when looking into this.

Nah you need the ballast and new globes.
Instead of lighting up an element to produce light, it arcs of xenon gas, producing a brighter light.

You'll see it @ Coffs trip ;)

Is the left pointing higher than right?

If you mean is it kicking up on the left, then yes.
We drive on the right side of the road ;)

If you're talking about the center of the beam, then it looks that way as the shoe cupboard is about 2ft closer to the vehicle than the wall.
