Hey all

My name's Tone, I am a muso living in Brisbane city. My wife, my 6 yr old midget and I are on the cusp of picking up our 2004 Extreme Sport KJ, with only 40000 km on the clock and every conceivable piece of paperwork. Should be ready this weekend

We are already compiling a list of must do's..

These include:

Chrome Grille
Fusion iPod Stereo
DVD Headrests
Clear front indicators (anyone know a local or online bendor ?)
Euro Style rear lights
BLACK windows
Side Rails (anyone know a local or online bendor ?)

I am particularly looking for a vendor for the side rails and front clear indicators, if anyone can point me in the right direction, we would be most grateful.

Can't wait to pick up this baby. Already planning a trip to Fraser for Xmas.

Look forward to catching up with some local members once we get going. Summer is almost here ! Perfect Timing.

Cheers, Tone

Welcome Tone and Family!

There is a good sized KJ community in the SE Qld area and many lurk here.

Cheers

G'day to all, Peter from Illawarra NSW. First timer on the forum, haven't done much of the forum thing before, late learner.
I've got a 2002 KJ 2.5lt since Dec 2010, upgraded from a tricked up 93 4D Vitara.
KJ was stock with only 2" coil lift. I've built and added dual batt, batt charging/supply system, draws and water system so far. Hope to fab all my own stuff as much as possible.
Toolmaker, Fitter/Machinest and Welder. and jack of all.
I'll try and share as much as i can along this learning curve.
peter

Thanks mate.
I've just been through the whole ordering clutch parts thing, chacing numbers ect.
Would be great to see a 2.5lt specific sticky where us newbies can easly find this sort of info.
I'll be the first if that's OK

I've got a 2002 KJ 2.5lt CRD MFR Date 4/2002 with 175000kms only had it since Christmas 2011 and the clutch has gone 3 weeks ago.
According to Jeep service dep in Wollongong NSW, said it's a solid flywheel and can be machined.

So far i have been able to get (in the post) pressure plate 52104302AK and disc 52104303AK from England delivered for $376.15 from an Ebay seller ( wefoundtheparts ) not sure if he can get more.
Jeep Aust wanted $691.83 for the above

www.moparonlineparts.com can only supply some parts.
Apparently Chrysler US will not release the clutch for sale in US so can't be ordered from Mopar. Would have been $177.10 if i could.

To order from Mopar you need numbers, without them forgetit.

Clutch bearing 53008342 from Jeep Aust $159.17
from Mopar $63.08
Rear main seal 5066756AA from Jeep Aust $251.55
from Mopar $45.48
Transfer case switch 5083138AA from Mopar $63.08
didn't bother to get a price from Jeep.
Postage from US $60.00 for the above. (also in the post)
Hope to have them all in a few days

Have been quoted 3 to 3 1/2 hours @ $80 to fit by machanic i know who hasn't done one yet. I'll show him the write up, leaving out the 5 hour part.
I would do it my self, but much easyer with a hoist.

Hope this helps anyone with a 2.5lt

Thought I should say G'day too.
Joined a while ago but hadn't posted as I was getting my info on AJOR.
Thanks Glen for the heads up..

We have (we is the wife) an 06 KJ Renegade CRD with 2 inch lift, rear air bags, TJM front bar and ECO Tune.
We bought it as the wifes daily driver but also to tow our caravan / Toy Hauler (I race bikes and the kids and wife do a bit of MX), and my Mitsubishi Triton only has a 2500kg capacity (who would have thought the little Jeep would tow more than a 1 ton ute ?). The toy Hauler is also a US import being an 18ft Carson Fun Runner - Its a great bit of gear...

Welcome gents. Always good to know a welder - my welding is crap but it holds stuff together. BTW we have someone else down in the Illawara (North Wollongong I think), (Phil) he's a retire auto electrician and has done a timing belt change - so a handy fellow to know.
