Thanks mate.
I've just been through the whole ordering clutch parts thing, chacing numbers ect.
Would be great to see a 2.5lt specific sticky where us newbies can easly find this sort of info.
I'll be the first if that's OK

I've got a 2002 KJ 2.5lt CRD MFR Date 4/2002 with 175000kms only had it since Christmas 2011 and the clutch has gone 3 weeks ago.
According to Jeep service dep in Wollongong NSW, said it's a solid flywheel and can be machined.

So far i have been able to get (in the post) pressure plate 52104302AK and disc 52104303AK from England delivered for $376.15 from an Ebay seller ( wefoundtheparts ) not sure if he can get more.
Jeep Aust wanted $691.83 for the above

http://www.moparonlineparts.com can only supply some parts.
Apparently Chrysler US will not release the clutch for sale in US so can't be ordered from Mopar. Would have been $177.10 if i could.

To order from Mopar you need numbers, without them forgetit.

Clutch bearing 53008342 from Jeep Aust $159.17
from Mopar $63.08
Rear main seal 5066756AA from Jeep Aust $251.55
from Mopar $45.48
Transfer case switch 5083138AA from Mopar $63.08
didn't bother to get a price from Jeep.
Postage from US $60.00 for the above. (also in the post)
Hope to have them all in a few days

Have been quoted 3 to 3 1/2 hours @ $80 to fit by machanic i know who hasn't done one yet. I'll show him the write up, leaving out the 5 hour part.
I would do it my self, but much easyer with a hoist.

Hope this helps anyone with a 2.5lt

I got my clutch plate and disc from the UK - from a Jeep dealer! See this post on AJOR

Hi there

Steve here from the gold coast , been driving my jeeps for a few years now and loving it. I currently have a 2003 CRD KJ and also a 2005 TJ.

I love getting out in the jeep for a camping trip with the family and mates, sometimes with not as much wheeling as would be liked but still getting out.

My fav spots to camp and drive are west of the gold coast (senic rim area) , north up around rainbow beach and tin can bay and down south west of grafton.

Look forward to chatting and meeting you guys in the future.

G-Day Everyone!
Expat Yank living in Sydney 8 years now. Just got a 2006 KJ CRD.
Would love to find some local spots for parts. Been shipping from the States for most things as I work
for a airline I can get it shipped for almost free. However sometimes time is of the essence.
Are there any CRD specialists in the group?
No worries yet on my 2006 but we will see. I was just wondering if anyone had problems with the fuel heater that
people in the states seem to be having?
Anyhow too many questions I know.
Cheers and Beers
Nick in Marrickville

Welcome aboard Nick......We tend to source most of our parts from the U.S. due to cheaper supply charges plus the exchange rate at the moment is a bonus........ or Britain (for CRD Stuff).

Look forward to meeting out on the tracks sometime soon.

Cheers :CAMPING: :JEEPIN:

Thanks Fouros and Team J.A.G.
I do hope to see you out on the trails once I get the KJ setup.
I am really glad I went with the CRD. I am getting the list together of things to do to it though, it may be a long one! Dam window regulators are the first things. I had one go 3 weeks after I got it!
Cheers
Nick

Fuel heater? In Australia? Even in Sydney I don't imagine that will be a problem! And a 2006 with only 30k? "Only ever driven by a little old lady, mate, she used it to go to church on a Sunday."

As previously said, we tend to ship our parts in from the States or UK as Chrysler Australia seem to think that a 500% markup on spare parts is good customer service - either that or we find non-Mopar alternatives. Both here and on AJOR you will find plenty of threads and links about alternative parts.

Glend is our resident CRD guru - not only does he know a lot, but he also seems to have the time to explain it all in detail!

Window regulators - again the consensus here is to replace them with ones from Steiger in the US as they are metal rather than plastic and actually last.

Hey Pipeliner.
Yeah the fuel heaters were starting on fire in the States, yeah I know why would we ever need them? But I do go up to the snow quite a bit so I will plug it back in then. Yes I have metal plate replacement parts for the regulators it seems stupid for people to buy another plastic part that is just going to fail again. I can't believe how many people replaced the WHOLE friggin regulator 2-3 on one Jeep? Those dealers got to make a profit somehow huh? Yes like many things I have learned to live off of ebay for a lot of car parts, electronics, etc. Rarely do I pay retail prices for anything here in Sydney.
Thanks for all your help, I'm sure I'll be breaking something and be asking more questions soon.
Next up is replacing my fuel filter.
Cheers
Nick

Oh and Pipeliner.
It was a little old lady in Manly, NSW! She hardly drove it but she managed to put a huge ding in the oil pan skid plate! Plus I set up my signature on the Yank side so that is 30 thou miles not K's.

Hi all

I am Julio and I have been reading some of the topics over the past 6 months, thought it was time I joined.

I have a 2006 CRD KJ LIMITED, stock other that the SAMCO hoses and GDE transmission upgrade.

The family and I did a whirlwind tour of Broken Hill, Lightning Ridge and White Cliff middle of last year and a few small weekend trips in our local area the great Mid North Coast but nothing serious. Looking forwards to meeting up with others that have same vehicles so we can find out what the KJ can really do.

Love the KJ hate Jeep Australia's extortion rates on spares.

Welcome Garsola. We had a KJ Camping Weekend about this time last year, up at West Kunderang (just east of Armidale) which was well attended by the LOST Downunder KJ people. Hopefully we'll get another one organised for this year and have a chance to meet up.

cheers
glend

Then you will fit in well here, as we all feel the same. Most of us buy our spares from the US or the UK (UK for CRD engine parts and anything related to the models that weren't sold in the US such as the CRD with a manual gearbox).
