Post subject:  KJ DIFF LOCK OPTIONS

Been browsing about a bit looking for different options for front and rear diff locks. ARB is one option, Eaton ELocker does'nt apear to have one suitable,Aussie locker does have one but not real keen on the automatic ones for the noise factor during cornering. Anybody know of other options?
Regards Ross

The guy I'm talking to about the 4.10 gears was saying the DTT is good, he has them in the Hunter Racing KJ and he swears by it. He was saying about 700 for him to bring one in.

I think Stu has the ARB in the rear, and CPC has them both front and rear as does Stephenmeddings on AJOR ( and I'm pretty sure I've seen him here too.

The ARB lockers work fine and there are no end of stories pro and con re the best to use. Most KJs are already fitted with a factory build version of a Detroit type locker on the rear.. you need to tab the brakes a bit to get them to bite but they do work and would be complemented with a set of matching front lockers. At least you can steer your way thru the best line with this type of locker and not have to worry about engage/dis-engage when the heats on.
Some people on this site think that front CV breakages are caused by the ARB lockers including housing damage but we haven't had any housings breaking in OZ to my knowledge and most CVs brake when the power comes on as the wheel drops. Air leaks are an issue with the ARB type lockers so you need to keep the hoses out of the drag line.

I asked stephenmeddings about his setup,
His reply below:

ARB Air Locker - Front & Rear
They make life soooooo much easier. Of course it means you get further and then stuck more often.... but thats half the fun Thats why I also have the winch!

If I was to put a locker in it would be an ARB, I'd probably only get one and I'd put it in the rear.

Please excuse my ignorance but what does DTT stand for. I googled it and nothing to do with diffs came up.
