Well..................It has finally arrived and been installed today. Ready for our trip to the Kimberlys..........I wish!!! But Team J.a.G is heading off this Saturday to Carnarvon Gorge for 7 days (may make it to Longreach??). This will test the economy & range

Specs:
Capacity: 115 ltres
weight empty: 40kgs

I think I've lost about 15mm in height on the rear suspension, but haven't done any accurate coparisons yet.

For Sale : 1 x KJ stock 65 Ltre Fuel Tank

That's a bigger tank than what's in my vans!

Got pics/links? Kinda wish my wife's Jeep had a larger tank. I'm used to going 400+ miles before having to stop for fuel on long distance trips. We were doing just over 300 miles per tank during our trip from Chicago, IL to Coal Creek (Knoxville, TN area) for the East Coast Safari pre-run.

Sounds good Greg, some pics would be good mate. Sounds like you may need some of STU's rear coils to get the lift back.

Looks nice. Is it custom made or does somebody mass produce them?

Looks pretty chunky. I there is not skid plate available, you might still be OK.

As it is made from steel (hence the extra weight - 40kgs + fuel) I am hopeful skids will not be required. Unlike the standard plastic tank.

Sweet, I think that will solve your "distance" issues fairly well. I have some spare 10mm rear coil packers lying under the house, if you think you need to lift it back up..see how you go on your trip with the van and a full tank of fuel.

So how much was it and what did it cost to install or did you do it yourself?

On my old Pathfinder I had an LRA Auxilary tank which was actually larger than the main!?! It too was pretty solid although it did end up with a couple of dents in it but no leaks (one was doen at El Questro up in the Kimberley) :) How accurate is the fuel guage and does it use the original pump? The guage for the aux tank was pretty bad and would show a red light when there was still loads in it and you couldn't pump dry as the pump supplied wouldn't take it.

So where are you going on your trip? We went up there last year, was stunning and want to go again!

Not sure of accuracy at this stage. Just filled it up last nite for the first time so I will keep you posted on that. The guage for the aux tank was pretty bad and would show a red light when there was still loads in it and you couldn't pump dry as the pump supplied wouldn't take it.

So where are you going on your trip? I was having all this work on my car and van for a trip with Pipeliner to the Kimberlys but had my 5 weeks holidays pulled from under me. :x :( So Team J.a.G has 4 workings plus weeks ends to do Carnarvan Gorge :) . Kimberleys' will have to wait unfortunately. We went up there last year, was stunning and want to go again!
