After deciding that the "house work" could wait.............J.a.G. hooked up the CT and took off for a couple of days to a place called Mt May.

Situated about 1hr 50mins from home we arrived approx 4pm not knowing what to expect.

.1. THE CAMP SITE:- Accessable via Boonah or Rathdownie - 2wd to a flat large camp site (managed by Maroon council) with fire pits & running creek.

2. Walking :- From the camp site you can climb up through a walking trail/s to view the surrounding vistas of Mt Barney, Mt May and Mt Lindsay

OR

3. Cool Off in the mountain pool ........................

4. From the Camp Site:- 4wd is required to ascend the climb through some steep sections of track with washouts and water crossings, to the top of the range about 3/4 hr drive (each way). This road is traversed through some private properties and gated areas and is rated as 4wd dry weather road only. :JEEPIN:

5. Lake Maroon. At the base of the range
Fishing, Camping, Skiing, canoeing etc.

It would be worth a return trip to share with others. :JEEPIN: :CAMPING:

Nice spot and I like your campertrailer - not too massive and appears to be well matched to the KJ.

I didn't notice any sign "Swim at own Risk" or "Beware of what lurks Beneath"
But I can guarantee it is VERY refreshing

I think Nobby was referring to the terrifying monster that lurked there, poking its head above the water to search for unsuspecting prey.

Apart from the outstanding athlete swimming in the mountain pool your reference escapes me

Looks nice but not as nice as the places I could have shown you around here. Lucky it was raining all weekend. :) :)
We use to have all our school camps there when I was a little tacker, they use to drop us off around there, make us do
oreintering (however you spell it) to a point around the corner and then canoe back to the dorms, not even sure if it is
still there.

Looks like a good spot to me. I worked on the Maroon dam on the drills doing the grouting under where the wall is built, havn't been back since 1969. Must check it out some time.

I think you might find a bit more vegetation has probably appeared since 1969 Ross  Worth a re-visit :SOMBRERO:
