At this stage it is looking good for me to get that weekend off, though not confirmed yet.
Hey 2jeepfamily , that is right in your back yard if you are up for a run/ camping weekend.

Which of the two camping areas do yous think would be better to book??? Any thoughts on this, or somewhere else??

As of 8:30am this morning there are 5 sites (out of 14) available at Wreck Rock for that weekend, so we need to book FAST (TODAY!!!) if we want to go there. There may also be sites at Middle Rock - I didn't ask as they say that it is not suitable for trailers.

Bookings are made at

EPA Rockhampton Office (for campsite bookings only)
61 Yeppoon Road , Rockhampton
PO Box 3130 , Redhill, Rockhampton QLD 4701
ph (07) 4936 0511
fax (07) 4936 2171

and need to be paid for by credit card at time of booking.

Who's in?

Count me in :D I might have to work the Saturday but it is only an hour away.
Wreck rock has facilities (toilets) Middle Rock doesn"t have much at all. Booking will
have to be done soon though as they go quick that time of year.

OK.

So far Team J.a.G, Pipeliner and GMEMUD have booked sites at Wreck Rock. Fouros may have done so by now as well. So there is ONE site left at Wreck Rock - first come, first served!

Middle Rock is about 4.5km further north and is a self-registration site without facilities. Latecomers could camp there (for sleeping) and join the rest of us at Wreck Rock for the social activities.

Wreck Rock is 24 18' 53.5"S, 151 57' 49.7E and Middle Rock is 24 16' 38.1"S, 151 57' 4.8"E

I don't know if you have any plans for trips while your there
but a couple of suggestions are
-Baffle Creek at the mouth is Rules Beach which is 4WD access at low tide
-The sand track to Agnes Water (haven't done that one years so I only presume it is still open)
-Eurimbula N.P north of Agnes
-Watalgan has some harder tracks I've been told but never been in there before

We came in to Wreck from Agnes in Sept via the sand track.

If you're joining us on Sunday you are hereby appointed Trip Leader for the day!

I had a strange feeling that was coming, oh well good excuse to go and
buy the UHF I always wanted.
Talked the EPA on Friday about Watalgan State Forest, no permits required
so weather premitting it looks like the place to take you all for a look.
Rated Moderate only in dry weather which it definately isn't at the moment.
Found some GPS points on www.users.bigpond.com/bundy4wd/Watalgan.htm
if any one would like a look

We might have to bail on this , it all depends on Belle ( our great pyrenese) , she picked up a paralysis tick a week ago and have only just got her home from the Vet, we will know in the next 2 weeks if she will survive the venom

i will keep you all posted
