Post subject:  Red Centre Trip, Winter/Spring 2009

The suggestion has been made that in 2009 (around August/September) we all try to get together in the Uluru/Alice area - the idea being that the WA people can get there as easily (or with as much difficulty!) as the East Coast mob.

Anyone who thinks they might want to join in, put your names down. We can select a period of 4-7 days when we will all join up in the Red Centre, and each State can then organise how they get there.

Need to start organising early, as each participant will need to take at least 2 weeks off work (except you lucky SA and NT LOSTers who will have bitumen all the way!) to make it worthwhile.

LOST IN THE RED CENTRE.......

This could be THE LOST TRIP...

Maybe we should sell tickets. Or start a Documentry about it , with everybody recording their own part of it, coming toghter with the meeting..

2,814 via Broken Hill and Port Augusta. 2,173 as the crow flies.

From Perth, 2,044 via the Great Central, or 3,246 via the Eyre Highway

From Melbourne, 2,317 via Adelaide

From Brisbane, 3,147 via Mt Isa, 3,156 via Broken Hill, or you can go via Birdsville and the French Line, or Boulia and the Plenty Highway.

I'd like to but I'll probably need to make a choice between the Lost Trip and the SJC Trip to the Simpson, can't do both.

Remember guy's that SJC isn't in any way AJOR, there are loads of nice members. Yes there are those that you would probably rather not wheel with (one reason I didn't renew my membership) but lots that you would. I for one will probably renew my membership next year at SJC (for a few reasons, one is insurance another is Meani etc..).

CD I wasn't bagging SJC, and I agree there are nice people there (also one I have on my Ignore List). Their Simpson Desert Trip is already well planned, itinerary, daily runs, fuel stops, lay days, side excursions, etc.. The advantages I see in a KJ trip is that we all have pretty much the same capability and limitations (at least in terms of our vehicles). I would love to go on both trips but if I have to choose, and I think I will have to make a choice, then I'd be leaning towards the KJ Trip assuming it gets off the ground.

It is now 2009, and I expect we are all beginning to plan our holidays for the year, so I thought I might move this back up to the top. Fros, how about making it a Sticky?

I've also posted a pollso that we can easily keep track of the numbers of people interested from each state (sorry ACT, I lumped you in with NSW!)

It also occurred to me that if any other LOST members (other than Australia, that is) wanted to come we could probably find a few spare seats.

OK I've voted (Sydney start) but I may well be in Qld at that time coming back down from the Cape - so we'll see.
