Guys, looks like everyone is getting excited about the trip. Unfortunately the recession has hit home here, lack of work in the last few months has to see us pull out. We are dissapointed to say the least and hope we haven't stuffed you guys around too much. I have a big contract starting in the next few weeks, so i have to prioritise for that, and keep them happy.

On another matter, when in Alice, the Desert Wildlife PArk is a must see. only 5 minutes out of town, and fantastic displays of animals and desert plants etc. at least half a day required.

I know you'll have a blast on the trip, all the best and keep us all updated!
Cheers guys

So sorry to hear that the economic climate has hit again. We will miss your company. But all the best with your contract. I'm sure there will be a "next time"

Getting a set of Staun Beadlockers fitted on Thursday, so I can run REALLY low tyre pressures over the sand dunes.

Unless Cmohr joins us ( and I'm not counting on it) it will be a LOST Grey Nomad trip!

Ross & Imelda, CRD Grand Cherokee, off-road Jayco
Greg & Jen, petrol KJ, off-road trailer

So as I see it we a now down to the QLD contingent (+ one NSW) only for this Trip?

1. G'Me Mud + Camper
2. Pipeliner + Camper
3. CMohr (confirmed??) Tenting?
4. Team J.a.G + Camper
5. Honourary Sydney Prado KJ + ?

At this stage, J.a.G will be leaving for Birdsville no later than in the early hours of Saturday 22nd August. If convenient to those leaving from Brisbane around similar times we could possibly meet up on the Hwy, say somewhere like the Hwy Macca's just before Gatton exit??? Or if there is any other suggestions??? Hopefully we may catch up with G'm Mud somewhere around Windorah? If not in Birdsville.

We plan on leaving Blackwater on Saturday also, maybe spend a night at Jundah or Windorah.

Hey Pipeliner,
That's very cool about the beadlocks - are they the internal ones?

Team J.a.G - The 6pack I can go with , bought a couple myself last night but the natural strength I am confused about.
I can commiserate with NTJEEP about work, while Di and I were in Alice getting the jeep checked over my boss rang to say some contracts we where waiting on had been canned so there was no work for me, so no job.

G'ME MUD, I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, but from previous trips across the desert I believe the Jayco track could be too wide and will have the wheels out in the soft edges making the KJ work very hard. The desert tracks change from week to week depending on the traffic and the wind so I may be wrong but it is worth thinking about.

I'm taking the Grand, but still the track is different. I am going to give it a go, if it turns out to be too much hassle then I will turn around and go a different route.

I can just picture the puddles of tears forming beneath Millies chassis.
That looks like a nice unit, and matches the KJ's colour nicely too, though I'm sure both will be Outback Red before too long!!

Yes, the internal ones. Not sure about the legality, but they will be on the off-road wheels. I'm reinstalling the old 235/70 BFG's for everyday use.
