Post subject:  Power Supply

For the past few weeks the KJ has been struggling with power on start up. That is symtoms of flat battery e.g. struggle to start of a morning, stall when idling (e.g. at traffic lights etc.). Resets evic to US settings, tail gate locking etc.

I have had all errors on the computer cleared. Resulted in Improved idle to only stall on cold start (i.e. first start of a morning)

Thoroughly cleaned battery terminals & checked battery charge which is registering as full charge(battery 2yrs old with a 3yr warranty). Still struggles to start & idle from cold start in mornings or if left standing for extended periods.

Today I have replaced the battey with new to check on cold start tomorrow.

Any one had any similar experiences :?:

Heard of these things with a buggered battery. Also did you go to a auto leccie to check power from alternator, and check for earth leaks, can be a worn wire or even lighting, also, what kind of battery was it??? If a battery is on its way out, it is going to charge to full charge, but it will not be able to hold charge, so it will flaten overnight with the small amount the ECU uses even when car is off. Then , when the car is at idle, the alternator does not produce enough charge to run everything, so there is power drain from the battery, and if the battery is unable to make up that difference, there is a "brown out " to the ECU, and that will be the fault codes, ECU reseting and the stalling.

What battery did you get????

That's good news Greg, I was thinking about changing my battery. It's working as it should but seem's like it's lacking a little power at the startup.

just an add on but allthough everyone know's this loose terminal's kill a battery
in a big way (no it was not me more like a stupid mechanic who didn't seem to understand
that by tightening the outside nut and not the inside one, the clamp doesn't hold)
Valuable leeson learnt. NO more dealer servicing (mind you they no longer have the dealship)
