Post subject:  New A Arms coming on the market

I ran across the Rocky Road Liberty A Arms (due for late March release). This seems to be a better quality A Arm than Jeepinby Al's (if we can believe the marketing blurb), but they are much cheaper ($269 USD). I have asked them to confirm shipping costs to Australia. Here is the link:

I'm not promoting this, just putting it out there.

the fact that rocky road will openly disrespect a competitors in such a way has to make you think,

he has a go at the frankenlift

i am waiting for him to have a crack at rocklizard equipment

put a post up in the general forum about rocky road and its owner and see what responses you get

this is only my opinion but I am not a hundred percent on either type's uca's for us over here. I think the product from
Jeepin by Al is good but I don't agree with welding on either product. Suspension is something that need's more consideration than nearly anything else (apart from brake's), i know Al's uca's are engineered but we are along way away
from there if something goes wrong. If you look at how all custom A arm's etc are done by by Rod shop's and the like
they are TIG welded, not MIG/MAG welded like these arm's are. The difference is in the amount heat that is placed on the componet to get the required penetration, the weld's look bulky around the bush area on both set's so you really have ask
is the weld deep enough? The only way to tell correctly is by X-Ray of the weld and if I was to put something on my car
I would definately want a report to show they have been checked as it could be the difference between driving straight
and crossing lane's into oncoming traffic. By no mean's do I want to discourage everyone i just want you to think before
you buy a vital componet for your car. When it comes suspension arm's there is a reason you pay alot for them, just make
sure that the correct checking off come's with them. Sorry this is so long winded but there has been a bit of talk about this
lately and just want to know everyone is informed. It is why I won't build them myself and I have the correct trade/welding certificate to do the job.

Agree 100%. If you look at this thread that I started over on the General Discussion forum you'll see page after page of similar concerns and observations:

I had an interesting conversation with the Director of Pro-Axle here in Sydney today (Pro-Axle is THE alignment specialists for 4WDs and trucks in Sydney). I went in to get my KJ re-aligned after having the Bridgestone D694 LTs mounted. The Director (Brendan Power) seemed to know a lot about Jeep engineering and had some nice things to say about some components (like those front A Arms - which he compared to Mercedes in terms of strength and design) but he also admitted he did not understand why they would design a quality component and then make it impossible to change the ball joint. They did a first class job on my alignment BTW.

So after all the feedback I am now convinced that I should stay with the stock A-Arms and direct my efforts at trying to limit UBJ impacts to prolong the working life of the UBJ in the Upper Arm. I am working on a basic spring coil bumpstop that I hope to have ready for Camp Coffs. The limiting strap (if it can be made to work) maybe the longer term solution.
