G'day fellas,

Have any of you changed the rear lower control arm bushes?

I've stuffed the LCA to body bush and have been ringing around for parts.

OE is $175ea for the body side, and $110ea for the axle side. Bummer is that it's a 2 week wait from singapore.

Poly4x4 have quoted $350 for a s/h control arm - but i'm kinda hesitant to do one side only.

Small fry compared to the tranny prob you guys have been having...

Cheers,

Thanks Pipeliner!
Even the part numbers match the OE catalogue (i'm assuming they are OE parts??)

The parts work out at AUD$122 (compared to $570 here in OZ)

However Morris have a minimum international shipping order of US$200
Bugga.

My biggest prob is that i'm going on a trip in 2 weeks time - and the US dudes prob wouldn't get in here in time. bugga bugga!

Thanks for the link - i'll be sure to buy stuff off there in the future!

Any Oz suppliers that anyone knows about? Nolathane.. zip.
Wooders is gunna get back to me.

Glend, I don't know any more that you can read in the webpage. But if they were used I'm sure they would say so somewhere.

Just goes to emphasise the HUGE markup we pay over here for OE parts from Jeep dealers.

Yeah - the Rear UCA bushes are a common item i believe. Wooders could get them (ballpark price you quoted).

The Rear LCA bushes for the KJ are unique to the KJ. They are slightly bigger that the other Jeep ones.
I've tried quite a few aftermarket mobs and no-one has anything.

Adjustable LCAs... LOL I'm having enuf trouble with parts for the 'regular' ones. LOL

End result for the interim is that i'm getting a s/h LCA assembly off Jeepart. $150
This'll get me around until i have time to order the bushes (and god know what else will break!) from the Morris 4x4 dudes that pipeliner noted.

USD200 min order. So will tell the wife that i have to spend the balance to qualify... LOL

Or do a group buy that exceeds the minimum and split the freight cost. Think about it.

I think I read something about using WJ Grand's rear lower arm's somewhere in the tech section to
gain some extra length to help position the rear tyre's correctly with a lift.

Well... don't i feel like a duffa.

Last week when i went round with the 1/2" ratchet to check all the bolts - everything seemed OK.

When i put the breaker bar onto the bolt - SNAP. The nut came off way too easy.

Turns out that the nut had frozen itself onto the body bracket. The arm was loose and coz of all the banging around had forced the bracket open by maybe 1/2mm? This made the bolt feel tight, but infact the bracket was NOT tight against the crushtube in the bush. Derrr.

No more clanging after this fix-up.

I did pull the LCA out tho - and my bushes are still nearly shot. So i'll order some from this Morris place - just not so much in a rush now.
I'll set up a group "bush" order if anyone is keen.

I ended up ordering complete lower arms from Morris, 72.00 USD each, and 36.00 for the upper ball joint, 16.00 each for the upper bushes.

Plus I got myself a full engine mount kit, thats all 3 mounts for 110.00 USD.

What made you get complete LCAs? Why not just get the bushes or where the bushes that attach it to the body flogged as well?

So where there any hidden catches dealing with Morris? Import duty, excessive freight, customs giving you a hard time, the gear is 2nds off wrecks etc?

All new parts, thats what they really cost, Jeep just marks them up and up...

I got the whole arms as they were so cheap, as compared with having to pay somebody to press out and press in and fit the new ones to the old arms. This way I just undo a few bolts and pop the new ones straight in. I already have a spare upper control arm so I'll fit the bushes to that and just bolt it in as well... It's all about ease.
