This whole rear upper control arm thing, with the arm at such an angle, because of lit, and the angle of the diff, and the stresses causing failure of the rear upper ball joint..

We've all been thinking of the balljoint connection to the top of the diff, and thinking about a relocation bracket there on top of the diff, but, that does not solve the angle issue, and the upper control arm contacting the body.......

Relocate the mount of the upper control arm to the body , by lowering that. It will bring the angle of the control arm back to a more standard, will solve the issue of the bushes running position being stresses, it will correct the running angle of the ball joint, plus will stop the contact of the arm on the body mounts them selves., plus because the control arm is more Parallel that will actually mean that it will correct a bit of the pinion angle.

So .... I have a basis plan how to it, with a bolt in mod, will see what I's come up with.

Did I miss it? What are you bolting in? Have you found a relocation bracket?

Too High..

These days I dont carry too much in the back, so generally sits about 575 - 580 from hub centre to guard.

I checked mine - 550mm hub centre to guard lip, and that's with the air bags at 4psi. When I pump up the bags prior to loading on the boat or camper the rear end rises to your sort of levels ( before settling back down when I bleed air out to return to my normal level). I do have some driveline problems when I 'unweigh' (to use a skiing term) the rear axle - say when hitting a bump and the towball weight comes off and the axle extends under the air pressure. At least I think that is the cause of my vibration problem.

I am assuming your bracket will need engineering approval. Does it do the same thing as shimming the transmission and xtra case to decrease the rear shaft rotational running angle? Guess I need to see a drawing to understand it. :?
