Several months ago the first Sydney area KJ BBQ/Picnic Day was held at Glenbrook National Park (in the lower Blue Mountains). Its on again on Sunday the 31st of January. Several area LOST members and others have already confirmed. I am posting this notice to maybe shake some dust off some of the Sydney based LOST members that are lurking in the background here (hmmmm: CD , ED, & others, etc.).

If your interested please PM me and I will send you the details. Note that despite the location this is not a '4WD Trip' per se but a social function for KJ owners and families. Of course KJ mods, trip planning, etc will be hot topics.

Of course any of our LOST breathern from other states and areas are most welcome if you happen to be around this part of the country next weekend.

:D

Here are the photos of the KJ Picnic Day.

Five KJs, four diesels and one petrol, met up at the Glenbrook National Park Ranger Station in the midst of a rain shower. Traveled into the park to the Red Hand Cave and then to the Oaks to get to a sheltered picnic spot. The rain let up when we arrived at the Oaks, but did create mud, puddles, and slick track conditions for the trip.

Here are the vehicles at the Oaks:

from Left to right: glend's, Dave's, gi-frog's, PhilReid's, and Jenko's

Image

This is young Dave going over the service interval with Phil.

Image

Picnic spot out of the rain.

Left to right: gi-frog's mum, Mrs gi-frog, gi-frog himself, Mrs PhilReid, Dave, and Jenko. Gi-frog's sister is out of shot to the left but is in the second shot below.

Image

Image

A shot to confuse, each K owner is standing in front of a vehicle which is not his own. Can you match the owner to the correct vehicle?

Image

Good time had by all and planning is now underway for the next Sydney KJ Event in April. :JEEPIN:

Proff, that KJ Picnic day was organised by members of Sydney Jeep Club, but others attended as well. All you see in the photos happen to be members of LOST as well.

I am trying to set up the the date and location for the next KJ Picnic Day. Preliminary discussions with some past attendees indicate that early May is probably best (before it gets too cold), probably at a southern location this time (as was requested at the last Picnic Day).

Gi-frog has a shift roster to contend with and he is usually the one we have to schedule around, so James if you can let me know your preference for dates in May I'll take it from there.

OK we seem to have a couple of dates that suit people (well at least four KJ owners at this point): the 2nd or 9th of May. Proff does that give you time to get your fuel head assembly fixed up? Jenko please let Dave or myself know.

Venue is looking like it will be south of Sydney this time, maybe Picton area. Phil is scouting locations for us.

CD and ED if your still with us your welcome to attend. Anyone else in the Sydney area just drop me a PM if your interested.

Well Phil and I worked on sorting out a venue on the phone last night and the conclusion seems to be that the south side offers limited opportunities within a reasonable distance for people to drive for a Picnic Day. That is based on the assumption that we want to try to find some roads to drive on that are not just pavement. The dams and escarpment picnic areas offer a location but there is nothing the least bit remote about these places and they can be crowded. James do you care to comment, I seem to recall you had some suggestions about locations down that way at the last Picnic Day.

If we head southwest there is a fairly long haul to Nattai NP.

As far as reasonable driving time is concerned (for most, sorry Phil) it looks like the lower Blue Mtns is again an obvious choice. Jenko you know that area better than most, is there another location (don't want to go back to keep going back to Glenbrook - that will get old), perhaps up around Springwood (where I can see some tracks on my map). Might also make it possible for Proff to join us.

Suggestions?

hey
the only thing that will make it to hard to join your guys is if the wife { who owns the jeep} said she doesn't want to go any where. I am near Bilpin, Glenbrook is Not far away. I used to work as a 2 way radio Technician in Penrith

Well Phil and Sandra Reid have another commitment for the 2nd of May so that appears to be out, and the 9th (as has been pointed out to me tonight) is Mothers Day - so that's out. I am now waiting for further suggestions.
