To those traveling over the weekend have a great time and get back in one piece. We were meant to be in the Philippines now but had to canceled at the last minute so now we will just go up to Mackay for a couple of days. When i had to cancel my leave from work I immediately put in for all of September and the first week of October to go to Jambo and have a look around on the way down and take in as much of the high country as we can fit in.
Happy traveling.
Ross and Imelda

J.a.G is heading off in the early hours of Good Friday to Longreach (hopefully catch up with Pipes) and "Lark Quarry" via Winton to check-out some Dinosaur bones. But we will be camping at various NP's (that have not been closed by the wet) along the way.

As Ross said hope all have a safe and Happy Easter
Cheers
JaG

Have a safe trip. I am staying at home this Easter building brownie points and saving up for, and getting ready for, the Simpson Desert Trip in July and Jambo later on. Bought a second spare KJ alloy wheel yesterday from Poly4x4 (boy these things are hard to find) for the Desert Trip. Stay dry up there, is that another cyclone I see coming down from the Gulf? We don't need anymore runoff into the desert! The Birdsville Track is cut until mid-May now.

We had a great time - went to Longreach via Augathella, spent a good two days at Longreach, then came home via Emerald, Blackwater (pity Ross and Imelda were in Mackay), Bilouela and Nanango.

Well we're back, after 8 days..................just arrived home 5.10pm...Round trip was approx.3,600km. Drove through Miles, as Expedition NP was closed due to floods, we travelled onto Theodore for the first night on the banks of the Dawson river.
It was then a long days drive to Longreach (712km) via Springsure, Emerald, Jericho & Barcaldrine. Meet up with Team Pipes & joined them in viewing the Stockmans hall of fame on Easter Sunday. We said our good-byes to Chris & Liz as they headed off on Monday.

After having an extremely fascinating and most enjoyable viewing of the QANTAS Museum and tour of the 747, 707 & DC3 etc. We then departed Longreach for Winton & Bladensburg NP aaround midday Monday.

We set-up camp in the NP just in time before being hit with an over night flooding thunderstorm. In the morning we headed off around the River Gum Drive section of the NP to find that the storm had left water logged tracks and turned clay pans into lakes, creek levels were rising with potential to cut us off from the highway. After some discussion with other campers we decided to stay another night with hope that creeks would subside and we could then return to Winton, refuel, then head south to Jundah Via lark Qarry.

Well the creek levels did subside over-night and we were able to make it back to the road to Winton only to find a km of road between us and Winton was a metre under river water. So we turned & headed south through some unbelievable outback country. Lark Quary's Dinosaur tracks and the great architectural structure that they are protect within are worth the 100km trek south of Winton to see.......in our case through wet clay pan tracks. A couple of stops to wash the hardened clay from the side steps and then removing the stone guard from the camper to soak in the river to lighten the load from excess (clay)baggage.

Honestly the tracks and country side are amazing on this track. What photos I have do not do it justice.
The KJ performed well but has suffered from the muddy water and clay.....colour now looks like flat army brown camo.
