After my desert trip, which had a few long night drives in critter infested country, I was feeling very unhappy with my KJ lighting. My son had installed some Lightforce 225 on his JK and they were just awesome. When it got dark out west of Cunnamulla, I had him take the lead. Black cows on the road and suicidal roos are hard enough to see so I decided my aging eyes needed some assistance. I had already (pre-trip upgraded my headlight bulbs to Phillips +80s and while this helped on high beam they were still woeful on low beam.

I have now installed a set of Narva Ultima 175s (combination - spot and broad beam). Mounted them on my Nudge Bar (lower bar) using GME antenna mounts. Wired into the high beams and via a switch with relay control. I'll have some pics in a few days.

Initial testing on a dark road last night show a 'whole new world' of lighting. Very happy with these and they were reasonable in price (Powerful 4x4 in Sydney has them onsale on their website).

BTW I used the heaviest gauge wire I had left over from my boat wiring for the light power supply loom , and only used the light stuff supplied with the Narva kit for the relay trigger wire. I think this setup will allow me to go up to 130W H1 bulbs in the future (although I may have to swap to a higher amp rated relay at that point). Relay and wiring terminations are all sealed in a weatherproof box (for water crossing protection). I have to do something about the sealing of the lights themselves, anyone have any ideas on light sealing (is it a good idea or is good drainage a better option)?

Can't help with the sealing bit sorry, although I would think there would need be need for a vent somewhere.
Just a tip on wiring, a few years ago now I had a pair of 100w spotties wired up with heavy gague wire and the 30a relay fused togeather and would not turn off untill pulling the wire off so I used a seperate 30a relay for each light and it made a considerable difference to the lighting after that ( a few people asked if I had 130w bulbs ) so now that is how I do all my lights.

Yes, a switch comes with the Narva Combo kit and I used it (mounted it just below the steering wheel on the top of the drop down panel - which is completely out of the way of my knees etc). The high beam trigger lead (used to operate the relay) runs through the switch. To get a high beam trigger I just used a tap splice on the right hand side headlight high beam wire - used this side because we are a right hand drive country and that was the shortest run for the wire (the wire provided in the kit is sufficient for the trigger lead but I would not use it to power the lights - just my opinion as I think it is a bit thin for the job).

So with the switch off, the high and low beams work as normal and the driving lights will not come on when you select high beam on the stalk. With the switch on the driving lights will come on when you select high beam on the stalk. Of course you can turn the driving lights on and off with the switch when high beams are on, which provides for all possibilities.
