Yes I am considering swapping over to MOABs (16*8) with a more aggressive tyre - would have so helped last week! Anyone know a local source for them? Quadratec is an option of course but I'd rather find something cheaper. I had a look at the Procomp lineup at Jambo and they have some nice steelies.

Do wheels require 'engineering'?

Glen I think Palla and Fros got them from that link I put on AJOR.

http://www.boulderbars.com/rubicon_rims ... ainted.jpg

You can also get them from ebay, but for 750-1000 from those guys, be well worth the savings.

The only thing I dont like about steelies is the extra weight, they are heavy buggers, even my 15's are twice the weight of a 15 alloy.

As long as the wheel is in spec, IE 16in with only 12mm or so in diff of backspacing all is legal.

Those are Wrangler wheels, aren't they? I'd love to change my stock 16" as well.
Steelies seem to be the easiest option.

Thanks everyone. I'll wait for a local source as the shipping would be a killer (thogh the exchange rate is very attractive). I have Wooders keeping his eye open for a set.

glen

you wont find a local source the TJ Rubicon was never sold in australia and Moabs are TJ rubicon rims, the only way to buy a set of moabs is from the states.

Palla got his from all j's i got mine through a friend , and freight is a bugger

Glen there is another option, CPC has a set of alloys 16x8 with 5in backspacing, she got them from someplace on the Gold Coast I think. Maybe PM them over on AJOR and they can give you the details.

They are not JEEP brand wheels, but still good.I almost bought a set of them around the same time she got them from a place around the corner from me, it was from Hunter Racing/Extrme motorsport they bought them for his race KJ for the Outback Challange but then he decided not to put them on, he offered them to me but I went with the 15's so I think he ended up putting them on his MJ. I can check with him to see if he can get any more if you like.

I like the idea of MOABs more actually because they are JEEP brand wheels, and look more Standard..

Agree with you there Chris, I like the 'sleeper' aspect of the MOABs.

Hi guys,

Been a while since Ive posted been chasing other hobbies but since you all been talking about me thought I might chime in.
Yes I got mine from All J's as others have posted the link to. I rang Heather a couple of times & spoke about what I wanted to do about freight, she enjoyed the Aussie accent & gave a little discount  She has got a few sets listed for sale atm. The dollar is awesomely strong as well.
Mine are the "Step" side but the "Smooth" definately gives me 1/2 a chubby.

Thanks Paul, I'm seriously considering a set, I really want to go back to 16's with the CRD.
They are tipping the Aussie Dollar will get to 1.20 !!!!!!

I'm also looking at some new camera lenses from Canada, here the best I can find is 1400.00 for one and 1540.00 for the other, From eBay Canada, 850 and 930. thats a saving of aboot 1000.00.

Glen,

Some time ago I was looking at these and I looked at the company that Paul got his from.

I also gave one of the dealers a call in Perth and asked them to check if they could get them in.
I gave them the part number and they could get them in from Singapore for $395 each.
So total $1975.00.

But problem was I already had the new boots on the original rims.

Maybe try your dealer and quote them the part number and see what they say.

Just an idead.
