The Sydney Jeep Club is going to host the 2012 Jeep Jamboree. Here is the official announcement (brief) posted on AJOR by the organising committee Chairman (Wolfe): http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/sho ... p?t=100881 Before deciding to take this on SJC did contact the major clubs seeking to determine if there were others interested in hosting Jambo 2012. The camping/base venue is yet to be confirmed but we are talking to a couple of locations and have several great options nearby (consider driving some great tracks in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, and the area around Lithgow, Jenolan Caves). Note that it will not be held in metro Sydney. Some things I can probably tell you now: The Club is excited about holding a great event, it has a great membership base with many skills related to event planning, and that planning is underway already. I am a member of the organising committee. There will be a focus on "Back to Basics" and thus camping, talking Jeeps, driving tracks, and enjoying the great outdoors, while still enjoying the basic amenities. So mark your calendar for the beginning of October 2012 (exact dates to be confirmed later), and start thinking about those road trips. |
