Please excuse my ignorance here, but, are those Bass fish that you can catch there an edible fish or are they just a sport fish? If they edible then I might throw the line in, otherwise they can swim freely without me bothering them. What sort of rig would you use for them? 80lb line with a 7 O hook????

Absolutely worth throwing on the bbQ. Need a licence in NSW though. As for what sort of rig???.... No expert there... but whatever it takes I reckon

LOL... it's not a marlin Ross! A light spinning outfit is plenty of gear for a bass (maybe a 4lb line), and I think they like lures. Jenko might be an expert on those. I'm a salt water fisherman and know little about the Bass.

You can buy your NSW fishing license online here:

http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/rec ... icence-fee

A three day license is only $6.00.

Of course, given the remote location of the camp I would think it extremely unlikely that a NSW Fisheries Officer is going to tap you on the shoulder.

Hi all,
If in dout Ross you can always use some C4,or det cord, then they will float to the surface, then all you have to do pick them up by hand. :ROTFL:   :pepper:

There you go, thanks Todd. Any chance of you and Kirsty coming along to this camping weekend? We need more NSW people.

Been there done that, many years ago now though, I think it is frowned upon now. Funny how acceptable behavior has changed.

Hey everyone,

Looking forward to weekend wheeling with fellow kj'ers!

Just wanted to confirm that we will be driving tracks in the Oxley Wild Rivers NP mostly - and therefore can't bring the dog.

She's a lazy Lab and doesn't even chase cats! not likely to chase anything in the NP, but the rules are the rules and wouldn't want to ruin the weekend and be forced to leave by the ranger.

Thanks
Silverkee (Jason).

Freshest snapper I've ever eaten was caught that way. We were installing a pipeline across the Spencer Gulf in SA, the barge anchor got stuck in the seabed and had to be blasted out using gelignite, and the bonus was stunned snapper which the divers collected and cooked as cutlets on the barbie. Fantastic!

Jason, I think West Kunderang is effectively a private property but yes it is surrounded by NP. Even though my Lab loves travelling and sleeping in the camper I was planning on leaving him at home in my daughter's care- mainly because of the NP thing, but also because he has bad hips and can't jump into the KJ and it's becoming harder for me to lift him in and out everytime we go somewhere by ourselves ( I need to get a dog ramp) . Bascially he's a little high maintenance and I want to be able to relax without wondering if he's going to bring me a snake. :ROTFL:

Yes, well, I've been opening the forum every day and thinking "Not much activity here" - only realised this morning that my computer had stopped logging me in automatically.

Can the NSW people contact me so we can discuss the possible convoy arrangements. Phil and Sandra want to head up on Thursday and stop at someplace like Singleton, or Scone, to break the trip into smaller segments - they do have to come from Wollongong so it's probably too long for them to do in a single day; or put another way, West Kunderang doesn't seem like the sort of place that you want to try and find in the dark and the day's are too short right now.

Update: Spoke to gi-frog today and we tried to set up a meeting for Saturday but things got in the way. We'll touch base by phone I think, still plenty of time to discuss.

BTW I located an ExporeOz page on West Kunderang (GPS co-ordinates, altitude, four and one half stars, ExploreOz user submitted photos of the place, weather info, etc)!:

Cheers

Whereis - West Kunderang.

West Kunderang Station seems to be located on 1:50,000 NSW Topo map for Carrai # 9336.

There are various West Kunderang GPS co-ordinates published on ExploreOz, Wild Walks, and many other websites, and they all seem to disagree significantly. I show the approximate location (from my map in the station location near the river) as: -30 degrees 50.725'S and 152 degrees 04.699'E

I'll be bringing my netbook pc with Oziexplorer and all the relevant map files.

I was wondering what would be a source of heat for the camper of a night without using the generator and still being able to wake up alive?
Hot water bottles, hot river rocks, bbq heat beads????
