NSW + QLD LOST Camp - 26th -29th August 2011

I have noticed that we are scheduled on the same weekend as the Jeep Appreciation Day put on by SCJC (see Laingie's post on this here on LOST).

Does this represent a problem for anyone? I see a post by JAG advising they would try and get along this year.

"J" of JaG has already confirmed the Mon.29th August as a work roster holiday which enables us time to travel and return from the NSW camp site. We are therefore happy to delay a visit to the QLD JAD for another year.

I just ran across an article on West Kunderang and the Oxley Wild Rivers NP in the latest issue of 4WD Action (#166).

I got the impression that the road into West Kunderang was fairly challenging (one of the Patrols on the trip covered blew a turbo hose on the way in). Each of the campsites is said to be private, with dedicated fire pits with swing BBQ plates, grates, and billy hooks, with its own toilet, water tank, picnic table and sink. Firewood is also provided.

Sounds great, but I am wondering now about the tyres on my camper (and the fact that it is un-braked).

As much as I don't want to, but we are Sorry we will have to miss out on this adventure. Unfortanetly wear and tear on both are Jeeps will keep us out cash for the next couple of months.

I see he had a Jeep in there as well.

Have to wonder about my camper on that steep low range access road - no brakes, and Phil doesn't have brakes on his either. We'll work something out, might need an escort.

All is good from my end.... if you note I have had no further changes since my last update dated 11th July. Booking with West Kunderang station is confirmed under the name of LOST Jeeps for 26-29th August 2011. Payments, at this stage, will collected by me on arrival at the camp site. I will advise any further details closer to time of departure.
Please advise any alterations that I may need to make asap e.g. cancellations or additions regarding attendance or any special requirements etc.

YES YES YES. Got my holidays approved, Imelda has got someone organized to take her place at her work so we should be all system go. Will be taking the KJ and Outback camper. Maybe we will have a chance to have a bit of a look around the waterfalls etc in the area either before or after our get together, we have two weeks off work.

Only four weeks to go now! I might pull the camper out this weekend and give it a clean, do some maintenance jobs (like the wheel bearings), and charge up the battery. I'll leave the KJ prep for later. As big Kev used to say - I'm Excited! Hey whatever happened to Big Kev?

Greg what's the situation on arriving early? Gi-frog tells me that he will be going up on Thursday, is the property always attended and accessible? I think Jenko might be heading up at the same time with the frog.

Arriving early shouldn't be a problem provided that you make prior arrangements with West Kunderang (Max - 0267781264) to access keys for the locked gates etc. I am planning to leave the Gold Coast around 5-6am on the Friday.

Anyone taking video equipment? I've been watching the vids of the recent Myswag trip to the Cape. Would be good to have some KJ footage. I have an older digitial tape type video camera (which is not real easy to share via Utube or files).

Yes I will be taking video camera. Jeep Action Mag (Michael) unfortunately is committed to attend JAD in QLD however is very keen to have a write up for an article on our excursion. :JEEPIN:

Please excuse my ignorance here, but, are those Bass fish that you can catch there an edible fish or are they just a sport fish? If they edible then I might throw the line in, otherwise they can swim freely without me bothering them. What sort of rig would you use for them? 80lb line with a 7 O hook????
