Hmmm, from my Scouting days I seem to recall that river rocks can explode if heated in a fire. From the Net "If they are wet (or from a water source) when heated in a fire, they can explode as the water inside the cracks turn to vapor." |

Update on numbers from the NSW group: Jenko's KJ will not be repaired in time for the trip (based on latest info) but he is still coming along to enjoy the weekend, 4x4ing, and do some fishing. He will be riding shotgun with gi-frog but still tent camping. So NSW is down to three vehicles and five people: Phil and Sandra, James (gi-frog), Jenko and myself. I may be bringing a mate of Nobby's up from Toukely but I am waiting to hear back from Nobby about that - any update Nobby? I need to pull the fishing rods out and see what I have that would work in a river. |

Ok Nobby, room for him was never a problem - I'd stick the rod in the camper. Just had another call from Gi-frog regardng Jenko, it looks like Jenko may not be coming at all (even as a passenger). We're waiting for confirmation. |

Greg what day/time will you be arriving? The Sydney convoy is heading out on Thursday am and we'll be stopping at Tamworth for the that night and to have a look around at the Country Music capital of Australia. The distance calculator makes it about 225kms from Tamworth to West Kunderang, which will allow us a late start on Friday am. I see by the access instructions (here: http://www.westkunderang.com.au/about-w ... ng/access/ that someone has to pick up the key from Cindy at Biston Park on the way through. I suppose that's the fee paying point as well. If you let us know when you expect to be arriving on Friday we will try to sync up with you and go in together or at least try to ensure we arrive after you. Might be a good idea to PM around the mobile phone numbers and agree on a UHF channel before we head off. Not long now! I bought a couple of Bass lures yesterday. |

We have decided, due to work committments, to depart at 7am from the BP Service Centre Pacific Highway (South Bound) Chinderah NSW Friday 26th August. ETA to Biston Park, key collection 1pm. Our convoy at this stage is Pipeliner, Nobster, JaG. Hopefully CMOHR, Silverkee & G'me Mud will join us at this point to complete the QLD contingent. (Please confirm Guys  )Gennerally we use UHF Channel 21 as a good starting point unless we find to much chatter. 8 MORE SLEEPS

That'll be an early start - for me anyway (often referred to as the afternoon shift at work!). I'll try to make it to the BP by 7am, but if I don't get there in time - no problems I'll meet up with everyone at the park. I'll put the radio on 21 and listen out for KJ chatter! We are packed and ready to go first up in the am (Monday) heading for Brisbane, depending what time we get away will probably spend the night in Gympie or there about, spend Tuesday with daughter in Brissy and head south Wednesday maybe to Border Ranges NP for the night then further south Thursday most likely to Armadale or Ebor or Dorigo or...............................?????????????? I have been advised that as phone/power etc. is not readily available at West Kunderang NO CREDIT/EFTPOS Cards are accepted ONLY CASH for fee payments.......

I dug this out a few pages back, as I couldn't remember the fees: Camping Fees $12.50 pp per nite + $15 vehicle access That equates to $37.50pp for 3 nites (Friday, Saturday & Sunday night) + $15 vehicle access = $52.50 for one person in one vehicle, or $90 for two people in one vehicle, etc. Fee schedule: http://www.westkunderang.com.au/wp-cont ... or-web.pdf |

Well we made it to Gympie Matilda free camp OK. Silly me forgot to turn the switch to charge the batteries, lucky there is lighting in the camp ground. Pipeliner, didn't you know that is not a forward control, it is a backwards control as that is the direction the project is going. |
