This is an old photo that I ran across of a MOPAR concept KJ Ute that was featured at the US SEMA show:  With Jeep selling the JK Ute kit now it made me think back to how the KJ could be done. With a Unibody I doubt that cutting away the rear of the body like that would keep the structural rigidity, unless they are depending on that bar to do that. |

Yeah I remember seeing that a while back, and agree, cant see it being too strong, looks like a lot of fun tho... These is a Chinese KJ knock off that actually is a ute, saw some pics of a white one once. Actually it looked OK...

Hmm, that would be this one:  I prefer the MOPAR one, but the Liberator is the real star of KJ custom work.  Seems the Chinese also make a traditional XJ copy:  For just $12-14K you'll get a 4x4 with a five-speed manual and CD player. Have to hand it to them, they are good at knocking off others designs. |

Thats the one Glen, but a white one..... It's funny seeing all these things about cutting the crap out of body work. I say that because IF I were to actually seriously do 33's on a KJ, I'd be taking the simple soloution. Long arm rear lower adjustable arms, a custom upper boomerang. Custom upper and lower front control arms that extend the wheel base and move the front wheels forward by 2inches or so to allow clearance for the turning wheels, and a custom from bar. Al's all steel front diff and cut CV"s, 4.88's and air locker in the front, and a DTT in the rear. |

I think the KJ rear end works just fine in a KJ, absoloutely nothing wrong with it, just a stronger diff centre in a DTT. I say a locker in the front, because with real big tyres, the streeses get a little much for th edrive shatfs, being open all the time and only locking when you need to is less stress than a DTT in the front. But is all just dreams...
