After months of searching and exploring areas outside of Sydney for suitability, I have just bought a house at Lake Macquarie NSW. I will be moving in early to mid-February depending on the settlement process activities.

The new place meets all of my (and my kids) criteria and I am looking forward to setting up my new workshop up the back of the block.

Congrats Glend, hope it all runs smoothly for you. Having a bit space to have a workshop is a good thing, I am half through building my own little bit
of a workshop, it won't be big but having an over 5 metre bench will be welcome change from working in the dirt. Out of curiousity is that north of Sydney?

Hi Glend, As we all know every little boy needs a shed.
With a hoist, drill press, welder and a latte machine.
It is great it is all working out for you.
Cheers, Greg

Hope it all goes to plan for you Glen.
Better to build two sheds straight away as one is never enough.

Thanks Gents. It already has a 10M x 4M single garage/workshop with a side attached carport of the same length all on a double sized concrete slab, and a storage shed on the side that will hold all the tyres and spare parts. My plan is to see if that works for me and if I'm not happy with it I'll tear it all down and put in a double garage on the same concrete slab. Be nice to put in a pit as well (he's dreaming).

I looked at one place at Port Stephens that had the best shed I had ever seen in a backyard. The owner used to have a Winnabago and his shed was sized for that, with high walls and big roller doors (I'm talking about two extra wide (3m) doors about 4 + metres high and roof rafters of the same height that you can actually suspend things from and drop them down). It was big enough for a KJ with loaded roof racks on and with a camper trailer or small caravan attached to park in front of the workshop area at the rear. I nearly bought that place but the house had 'problems'.

I gratefully welcome any shed suggestions, but I will bow to the carbon police and not install a beer fridge out there (I can just run the Waeco camper fridge on the bench anyway).

Well Done Glen. Lake MacQuarie is not a bad spot. Lived there myself for many a year. Which part of the Lake did you end up on ???
Hope all goes well for you.

Thanks JAG, the house is in Windermere Park, walking distance to the new Bonnel Bay Shopping Centre and a few streets back from Bardens Bay. I have a big bush reserve behind the back fence.
