Blending is a bad idea. Cold VO (even blended) will cause carbon buildup in your ringlands which results in blowby, crankcase contamination...etc.
A heated 2 tank system for WVO is the only way to properly do it. I'm not doing it in mine yet because i can't find space for a second tank other than the cargo area and the wife won't let me do that.

I agree wth clay,he knows a little about WVO (he runs the forum over at VEGISTROKE).Yes you can mix etc.etc. but there is only one way to do it long term in cold weather.............and thats a 2 tank system.

I disagree whole-heartedly. I've been mixing and burning WVO in both my rigs ('06 Cummins and '05 Libby CRD) without 1 single problem for well over 38,000 combined miles and through 2 harse southcentral Alaskan winters. I've had oil from both rigs tested and both viscosities were in the normal breakdown and dilution ranges. I'm not by any means a scientist or an engineer, but I have done it and tried everything, and well... it just works! The use of WVO is not a science yet and no one person out there can say for certain that there are any adverse affects or not. I've had great luck, then again my vehicles are both under 100k on the odometers. I will continue to do things the way I have been for 2 years now. I'll be driving across country in the Cummins towing the Libby on hopefully at least 30% WVO next summer. I will keep the forum posted on any problems... Don't expect to hear form me much :D . If anyone wants to know the things I've learned from this money saving project let me know.

PM sent for the CD.

I've been running cars and trucks and oil burners on WVO for quite a while now. It is all experimental still, but the concensus is that a single tank system will eventually cause engine damage. The biggest problem, assuming the vehicle starts and runs in cold weather, is VO leaking into the cranckase during warmup. So blenders might want to reduce your oil change intervals, and maybe run a few oil analysis too.

Of coourse, it is all experimental, so go ahead and prove me wrong.

38k miles combined on 2 vehicles is hardly a test of time.
I am about to pass 100k miles buring WVO in my 2003 PSD and i still dont call that a real test but a darn good start.
Let us know when your engine craters.

In a Liberty??? I'd love to see that... and the modified front bumper/grill extension with it.

True, though, you can't kill the old diesel engines. I'm keeping the WVO away from my CRD until I learn more. I will say that I have over 50K miles on my 1982 Isuzu I-mark with no problems related to fuel. I run a mix of kero and filtered WVO and a few additives. (think Diesel Secret without the secret)

I have an 06 Libby with a two tank system. Mine have two Yes (2) WVO tanks. The main tank is just 4.6 gallons and is mounted behind the drivers rear tire next to the stock tank. The dripper tank is mounted where the spare tire was it is 20 gallons. Basically I fill the spare tire tank and it is connected to the main tank by two fuel line one at the top of the spare tire tank and the other at the bottom of the spare tire tank. The small tank has two fitting on top the one that connects to the top tank is basically a vent. The one that connects to the bottom of the spare tire tank is the fuel fill.

The tank behind the tire is coolant heated. The fuel runs along the frame rail to the engine bay where I have a semi truck filter mounted between the battery and the diesel filter. This Veg filter is wrapped in coolant heater hose. The fuel filter feeds a 26 plate Flat Plate Heat Exchanger that goes into a 3 way electric valve. I also added electric heat to the Common Rail in the form of Injector Line Heater, basically I have and electric wire wrapped around the common rail to make sure the SVO is hot enough. For the fuel return I could not get the 2nd valve in the engine bay so I mounted on the frame. The return for diesel goes to the diesel tank and the return for Veg goes to the fuel line coming out of the small tank behind the drivers tire.

I am working on modification that are mentioned on this web sit. We have about 6000 miles on the grease. I think that I saw the video for your jeep when I was doing research for mine. But it did not say what the computer modification were.

Hey Rob, left you a reply on the new member section before I saw this post. Any chance you could show us some pics of your setup. Also is it a kit or did you build it. I'm interested in doing something similar. Cj.

Most of the major kit suppliers i.e.--greasecar and frybrid will not list a kit for the Jeep because really it will not run right without the ORM's and they can not say that is what you need. Fybrid has one on his website Looks just like mine!

Currently I am using 40-50 gallons of liquid gold per week! Between the Jeep and the rest of our grease cars that is a lot of savings.

I work in a restaurant makes it a lot easier. Keep asking around to the mom and pop shops they are your best chance. Offer something in the form a labor. pressure clean the back area smaller dumpster, more frequent pick-up. If you are really desparate offer a free fryer cleaning service. You show up to the restaurant on fryer cleaning day and drain the fryers and clean them out and refill for them usually takes ten minutes but they all hate the job. I had a restaurant a few years back that showed me how he liked to change the fryer and I showed up every monday and friday. Every couple of week he would come out of the frount with a beer and I had to drink and talk for 20 minutes at 9:30am but it in nice to have control over the grease also.

Well,

I blended in my Libby up to 50 % in the summer and zero in the cold new England winter.

Now I live in hell..... I mean NC and want to start again. I left my set-up back home and need to start from scratch.

Once I can get the Libby out of my wife's hands I will be set to mod and run a two tank system.

What I have found, is that without a lift pump in the main tank, the wvo is too thick and any small leak adds to the limping issue caused by the pump on the injector pump pulling air.

I was wondering if we could get an update from the CRD breasted here. <~~~ LMAO the iPhone makes some funny changes in words. I have no idea what I meant to say instead of "breasted" but it came out funny anyway!

My wife drives hers 130 miles a day on average some times more. If I was doing it in New England I would have my spare tire tank coolant heated, and I would add extra insulation to everything I could. My trick to not getting air leaks (I never get air leaks) is really good fittings I use high grade hose with push lock fitting that seal without hose clamps, these seal to a flare fitting. For my Veg oil filter changes I remove the fuel lines from the filter and take the whole thing out, Change filter fill it with clean oil, gently set it back in place and put the flare fitting lines back onto the filter. Usually does not even hickup.
If I have not said this enough already the spare tire tank is the way to go. If you really need a spare tire get a roof rack and mount it up there.

CHenry did you start your conversion! How about a spare tire tank nothing in the vehicle.
