What are your thoughts on water injections systems?

They're supposed to make your engine run cleaner and produce more horse power.

I think this is a plausable idea.

I used to have a Bronco II with a slight, and I mean slight, intake leak. It would lose coolant, but very slowly. After changing the intake gasket it seemed to be a gas hog. Maybe that was just coincidence, but I think it wasn't.

Well, now that this sat for a month or so...lol
I am assuming you are talking about the water/meth injection kits.
But it is really early, I am at work, and I need something to do, so here I post.
I have known many people that installed these on their rice, domestic rice, and turbo cars. every one of them loved it. I would have installed it on my srt, but it was out of my price range at the time, and then I sold it.
I have no idea how they work on N/A vehicles, but I can't imagine they are that much different.

Water injection is supposed to cool intake air and improve anti-knock, allowing for higher compression ratios. Water injection systems are normally installed in conjunction with turbocharged engines and altered ignition timing.

I doubt you'd get much benefit from adding a water injection system by itself.

In my research they have little advantage on a gas motor that is not using some sort of forced induction.
However, in a diesel, or forced induction gas motor it can dramatically lower intake charge temps. Increasing combustion and keeping EGT's down, allowing more boost. But there is a fine line between enough water to help and too much to cause problems. PSD have bent rods, lift heads, etc. Water or water meth is not for the casual user. It is for someone pushing the limits the understands and excepts the risks....and is willing to tinker and tune to get it just right....

That being said I would like to put water/meth injection on my PSD, but really see no reason to do it on the CRD.
