Have any of you run biodiesel in your CRDs for long enough to know what, if any, are the possible problems? Are there certain modifications that have to be done to safely run biofuel? Thanks for any input that any of you can give.

Hi, gil. Check out the search function on the board. You'll find numerous discussion threads on in the CRD section about BioDiesel and to answer your question: How long is long enough? 2 years? 5 years? etc. Lots of us are using various blended percentages with few if any ill effects.

Dan

What dgeist said..........
I have ran both soybean based and WVO based Bio 5% to 50% concentrations for months now and no problems.
I see Bio as a fuel lube and fuel system helpful. BTW WVO based Bio seems to have more power but both quiet the motor and "smooths" things out. :D

I have run b99 and b100 in mine since I purchased it new in 2006 I now have 67k miles on it.
I have been running homebrew for almost 2 years now. I just keep a watch on the weather when the Temp falls below 40 I mix diesel with it to keep it from jelling I have not had any problems at all.

B50 in the winter and B99 in the spring/summer/fall. No problems. I did add a CAT2 fuel filter into my system.

I am the same, I makes my own bio 100, works great, if you have good quality stuff you can vouch for no problems.

I run a winter aditive in mine also but still top up with genuine diesel when cold.

Cheers

Ditto here. over 95K on my 05 CRD with the first 50K or so running almost all B99.

No problemo.

Just saw this thread. Has anyone increased their oil change I intervals with using high percentage BD? I'm now using b99 and have read about oil dilution. Or perhaps someone has sent their oil for analysis with using b20-b99 after? miles?

Thanks!
