Torque that Diesel lovers will love.
But with the added torque the power pulses will be stronger and even with the gasser, the engineers who design the drive lines better at least go to lunch with the Engineers who have fitted Diesels.

Interesting split-combustion. I'm a little fuzzy on if it behaves like the 2 of the 4 cycles always on one side and the other 2 on the other side, or more like an interlaced cycle where both members of the pair have a power stroke.

Also, is it supposed to be compression ignition or spark ignition or both?

Either one, both Diesel and Gasoline are direct injection.
Gasoline uses spark to start the burning process and will operate at lower compression.

Let me rephrase: According to the site, there are several interesting advantages with a gasoline model such as having half the cylinders behave as air compressors and in an idle or braking situation, the compressed air could be captured and stored (like how regenrative braking is used in an electric hybrid). The diesel section mostly deals with how increased efficiency and lower emissions would be yielded from ignition after TDC. I'm just unclear on if the diesel version still only has half the cylinders participating in the combustion cycle and if the fuel injectors actually fire after TDC (which confused me a little in a compression-ignition scenario...).
