Post subject:  Jeep Liberty CRD with an Elsbett Conversion

Well while scouring the web I found an Elsbett 2 tank VO conversion Kit specifically made for the Liberty CRD with all the parts still in their unopened boxes which I bought at a great price.

The seller had purchased it in 2008 but sold the CRD prior to installing the kit.

Presently I am in communication with a qualified Elsbett diesel medic who has converted many Sprinter vans in the past and will be assisting me with my installation from afar.

So far I collected cleaned and stored 250 gallons of WVO that is ready to go, the electrical wiring harness is being worked on and next on the list is to properly locate and install the various parts then making the final connections.

I know that there are no Jeep CRD's in North America with a German Elsbett kit installed and that mine will be the first, so wish me luck going down this uncharted highway.

I'll report back.

Keep us updated. I converted the Dodge. I'm happy with it. Would like to do something with the Liberty.

What is the Elsbett tank like and where does it go? What else came in the kit?

For sure, good luck!
I came close to getting an Elsbett system for an old Mercedes diesel i owned, but ultimately was too lazy to collect and process my own biodiesel. I will be very interested in reading about your experience.

What's the update? I just passed the 25k mile mark on wvo with absolutely no problems.

I am curious too because these are great SVO vehicles. I just reach 60k miles on grease. I just converted a 2005 Mercedes CDI and it was much harder and the power loss seems greater. The Jeep just had a slight power loss but was a rather easy striaght forward conversion. On a side note my grease is really clean.

The power lost on CDI or other CR engines is well known. It's caused by the deign or better principle of a common rail system. This is the reason we offered at ELSBETT and right now with Greasenergy an software upgrade for the engine ECU to compensate this and give the engine a cleaner combustion on WVO.

Any chance you can post some photos? I would love to see what the elsbett tank system is like on a libby.

I am a big diesel fan. I have a 300TD wagon that I've had for years. I have an XJ, and the combination to me seemed tempting so recently picked up a 1986 Comanche in amazing condition. Looking to put a 617 diesel in there soon...

But finding this thread has me thinking about getting a libby like yours and putting an elsbett in there for my daily driver. Any more info on that system and pictures would be helpful. Thanks!

I am sorry to say that the installation of that particular system was done on my previous CRD.

That CRD is now totaled..... see my signature.

The system worked great.

I am using biodiesel now.

Darn I hope nobody was hurt, losing a libby like that is no fun.

Well great to know that the system worked well. I've contacted a elsbett seller overseas to see the availability. Thanks again!

Oh that is too funny, I have had Luke work on my 300TD Wagon several times when I was in college at UW Madison. Luke was the mechanic at Prairie Fire Biofuels, he is a great guy.

Thanks for the tip, I'll contact him as I research installing an elsbett in a libby!
