Post subject:  Re: Trail ride 06/18/11-Tuttle Creek ORV Area Info

Ok, here's some Tuttle Creek ORV Area info dug up from last time we sorta went (03/2010):

Tuttle Creek ORV Area info (scroll down a little), complete with directions from Randolph, KS (North of Manhattan)

Tuttle Creek ORV Area Map PDF(Black & white with trail names)

Tuttle Creek ORV Area Map PDF (trails in color but with no names)
:dizzy: wonder why they don't just have a map with color coded trails and names on a single map :?:

Post subject:  Re: Trail ride 06/18/11-Tuttle Creek ORV doable in a stocker

kskj, ok, you've actually been to Tuttle Creek ORV and on the trails (unlike me who only made it to "the muddy hill" that rainy, soupy, Saturday in spring 2010), what are recommendations for a vehicle? I'm obviously not worried about my TanKK  , but was wondering if a stocker could make it? There are a couple other KK owners in the KC area that are mostly stock at this point (waiting for me to get my KK Off-Road Armor into production :banghead: ), so could their stockers make it or best to hold off?

Post subject:  Re: Trail ride 6/18/11

There are many places that they would be able to make it and there are many that as long as there is a spotter they would do fine. I guided a whole group of mainly stockers through some of the trails and they did fine. There are a couple places that are a litter tougher, but they can either wait go around, wait, or try to go through it. It all comes down to what the owner decides to do. :)

Sorry I answered instead. Haha.

Me too. It hope it does not rain any tomorrow or Saturday. It needs to dry out. That place is not fun in the rain. Oil shale rock and clay turns to slick and slimy. Last time I went in the rain I went up the entrance hill and then slide sideways all the way down into the evergreen trees. No Traction at all. We had more traction when we went up there in the snow in January.

Very true. I think that as long as it doesn't rain while we are there we will be ok though. Cause last time I went it rained in the morning but then it was dry for the rest of the day. The hills and stuff dry out pretty quick since it is right off of the lake. Plus if it is going to be in the upper 80's and 90's that'll help dry it out quicker.

Scott, looks like we will not make it based on the last time we went after a heavy rain.

Post subject:  Re: Trail ride 7/9/11(new date)

We are going to try this again. Sorry for canceling out last weekend. Previous experience helped to make that decision It is just not fun(sliding sideway's down the hill into the trees) when it is extremely muddy and wet.
So Saturday july 9th 10.00 is the new time.
