Sucks about the cancellation -- didn't want to have a repeat of March 2010 where we drive all the way out there and can only slide sideways into trees.

Looking forward to wheeling' Tuttle on July 9th. :JEEPIN:

Dang! I just saw this thread! I'll be arriving in Ft Leonard Wood, MO on the 8th, won't have time to though!! How often do you plains guys go out? I'm probably closer to KS wheeling then IN wheeling. Even though SMORR is the closest.

We wen't to Smorr spring of 2010. Nice place to go, good campground. We are trying to get out once a month this summer/fall. Trip to Colorado coming soon. :JEEPIN: So we probably will go to Kansas Rocks in September.

This is nuts. It's raining up there this morning. :x I guess we will go anyway and hope we can stay out of the trees.

Sorry I couldn't make it today. I had to work in the afternoon, plus my Jeep is making a weird "popping" sound in the front left suspension area, so I decided it's probably better I let it rest for a little.

Post subject:  Re: Tuttle Creek ORV-07/09/2011-MtnLuvr's Pics

It was very nice to get out and wheel...I think better hot like it was versus soupy muddy as we saw last time we tried Tuttle in 2010.

Ok, here's an excerpt of my photos as taken by MtnLuvr's "Jeep Aunt":
Image
The TanKK providing a little backward tug.

And yes, we do actually have some rocks and rock ledges in parts of Kansas:

Image
kskj's Rene and his son's Ranger.

Image
Decided to sport my Stinger Style Hoop for today's midwestern-style wheeling dodging trees while negotiating rocks and mud.

Image
kskj was our trail-leader today, which sometimes meant seeing if a mud-hole was passable, or not

Image
His son tried to recover the Rene's nose-dive into mud, but the Ranger was probably too light in the back to get the traction to pull the Rene free, so....

Image
the TanKK got called in to make use of its heavier weight, especially at the rear, to pull his fellow Kansas LOST member free.

Image
Climbin' a little hill (one of those where if you stop going up it, you won't be able to get going again). It was nice so many areas of Tuttle Creek are shaded. 8)

Image
Poser shot once we made it to the top of a hill to then scout our next path down some rocky ledges.

Image
kskj's brother, in his xj, crossing part of the area flooded by the high lake level looking for route options. All the midwestern rains this spring have had their impact on Tuttle Creek ORV Park, including the higher lake level cutting off usual access to some areas, mud holes still prevalent in July and rampant growth of tree branches into the trail. That's wheeling in the midwest....

Image
Image
Just crossing a little earthen ravine, while the Ranger is ready to follow-up.

Image
Some of these midwestern trees in the backwoods are pretty sizable.

Image
kskj negotiating the ravine with ease.
Image

Image
As soon as up the ravine, kskj swerves to stay out of the mini-pond, I mean large vehicle-swallowing mud-hole.

Image
Just climbin' a little muddy hill.

Since MtnLuvr's "Jeep Aunt" was on camera duty when outside the KK, I also found photos like these on my camera.

Image
kskj and MtnLuvr after making it back up to the top of a hill on our way back. This makes me think of the positive power of the internet as I first met kskj, and his son, through LOST when I took my KK to Colorado with less than 3,000 miles on it for the LOST Jeep Safari 2009 in Ouray. Even though we're both from Kansas, we live about 3 hours apart yet now have someone reasonably close by to wheel with. Since there are so few Libertys in Kansas that enjoy actually wheeling their Jeep, whether in KS, MO, CO or UT, not certain if or how we would've connected without the net and LOST.

Image
Image
After some route-finding, there was one last little ledge to get back up enroute back out of the park.

A good day wheelin' with nice company. :JEEPIN:
