So I went to moparsupercenter to try and grab the parts for the 02 airbox mod, but none of the part numbers listed in the faq above are valid. Anyone have any idea what parts are valid, or if you can even get them from moparsupercenter anymore?

Deflector: Part #53013509AA, QTY: 1.00 @ $8.52 = $8.52
Snorkel: Part #53013103AA, QTY: 1.00 @ $9.54 = $9.54
Airbox: Part #53013108AA, QTY: 1.00 @ $70.56 = $70.56

I tried scrounging the local junkyards, but nobody has any liberties :(

I had to purchase some parts for an 300ZX and had no luck locally. Had lots of luck on Ebay.

I'm checking on it now to find out what is wrong.

I just got off the phone with Jeff at MOPAR Supercenter and those are all available (more then enough on hand at warehouse to do all members here on the forum and the prices are still with in couple dollars of what is listed if any change has occured in pricing. Sounds like someone got bad info or talked to wrong person.

Deflector: Part #53013509AA, QTY: 1.00 @ $8.52 = $8.52
Snorkel: Part #53013103AA, QTY: 1.00 @ $9.54 = $9.54
Airbox: Part #53013108AA, QTY: 1.00 @ $70.56 = $70.56

Subtotal: $88.62
Shipping: $12.50
Taxes: $0.00

The total amount to be charged is $101.12

Two things:

1. Thanks for checking up on that oldnavy. Their search function on the site must be b0rked or something. I did not call them direct, I was simply trying to find it on their website.

2. Can anyone tell me for certain, does the airbox assembly HAVE to come from an 02/03, or will 04/05/06 off the gasser work as well?

I can't tell you for sure but I understand there is a foam gasket and possibly some emissions sensors on post '03's that limit the mod to '02 and '03.

Correct, and if you get the newer box you will have to plug one or two extra holes for gasser emissions stuff.

Thanks for the info. I had a buddy with an 05 airbox lying around, but if it doesn't really work properly I'll just bite the bullet on the 02 stuff.

Take a look at the box and see if the attachments holes that will not be used are easy plugged, if it works for you then you can save some big bucks.

The only critical requirement is that your existing airbox top cover mate correctly with the bottom half. If the 05 works, your golden. This is critical due to the MAF connector on the CRD airbox lid. As ON already posted, those oil breather connections can be sealed up.

I used an 02 airbox bottom and snorkel last year because that's what I had left over from my 02 Liberty when I upgraded it to a different air intake system. It was just an experiment that solved my water problem in the stock 05 airbox.

Looks like he already sold that 05 airbox to someone else anyways, so I guess I'm going to 02 route. It still bugs me that moparsupercenter doesn't have the parts on their site. It makes it a pain for me because my work hours make it so that the only easy way for me to order stuff is online. Calling usually isn't an option during the day :(

If anyone happens to be able to find the parts on their site so that I can just order there... that would rock :D

www.wholesalemopar.com had the airbox online last time I checked, albeit at a slightly higher price than the site ON listed.

Does anyone have a link to a photo series of this Mod? I am just much more visually oriented and once i see it onscreen I can pop my hood and get an idea of what's gong on with this mod. Also, where would one check if they just want to see if dirt/rain is getting in the airbox....anyone found a "goopy" spot in the air intake system where you can kind of check to see if it is having the rain/dirt problem? I'm all for tweaking something that doesnt work...but "if it ain't broke....."

I don't recall a photo recap of the install, only some photos of the two boxes side by side and a comparison of the two air inputs and snorkels. Really nothing on the install itself.

Being visual myself I understand your pain and thought about phtographing the install but it turned out being so simple photos were not required. Here are the steps if it helps.

> I recalled that a couple of people damaged the lid a little by folding it bac so I pulled the whole air box lid off which was pretty easy to do, just loosen the output hose clamp and remove the plug to the MAF sensor...for some reason I really didn't need to do this part since that plug seems to unplug itself all the time.

> Remove the filter from the air box and set aside.

> Pull firmly straight up on the old box. It has three platic legs that sit firmly in rubber grommets in the fender.

> Pull out the short round tube that connected the air scoop in the front to the box.

> Once the old box is out make sure the rubber grommets are still in place and the snorkel is attached to the box.

> Push new box firmly back in place (this is the hardest part of the job and a little soap or lubricant on the grommets might help.).

> Replace the filter, the box cover, reconnect the cover to the outlet hose, and oh don't forget to plug the MAF back in.

> Finally bolt or rivet the little air deflector on the cross piece just in front of the snorkel.
