The Boost hoses are coated inside with the oil from the CCV blowby venting system - at first incident of blow-off, would be a good idea to pull them for a good cleaning with autozone engine cleaner, in the orange and white can - removes the oil and flushes clean leaving no residue

Also, wipe the inside surfaces, then stuff rags into the compressor outlet and the inlet at the charge-air cooler and clean the outside surface of those tubes - dry everything, reinstall the hose(s) and torque the clamps - should hold them for another XX000mi

Heads up: don't fergit to remove the rags B4 re-installing the hoses

FYI - those pretty blue and exciting red silicone Boost hoses are an order of magnitude slippier than the rubber hoses when they become oil-coated - even slicker than owl snot.

My grandfather had a similar saying - except he usually referenced something that came out of the opposite end of the owl!

Yep - me, too - but the phrase I use makes my small grandson laff, and that's what it's all about, for now :D

Got a chance to investigate the airbox 'dilema' today -
- the CRD inlet configuration is similar to the V6 airbox inlet - at least two 90deg turns - with exception that the CRD is ahead of the front bulkhead right behind the grille, where the V6 is behind the bulkhead
- the CRD config has a primitive centrifugal filter with the 'grille-shield' in place, in that the air takes a 90deg downward turn across the top of the grille, then another two 90deg turns to enter the airbox duct
- the lighter component easily navigates the 90deg turns, the heavier component precipitates out - theoretically
- the V6 snorkel, also with two 90deg turns, additionally has at it's inlet a 'precipitate' dam for a third 90deg turn, with the advantage of being further back behind the front bulkhead, where water, much denser than air, has additional obstacles for entrance, thereunto
- unfortunately, the CRD c\f is more open at the bottom end than required for runoff, allowing entrance from the several lower angles also - hence, the dampening of the filter element in inclement weather

Another problem with the stock air intake - if you look, anything that blows in thru the gap between the headlight/foglight and the grille goes straight into the inlet tube for the filter housing - straight shot for rainwater, bugs, dirt, etc - completely negates all those baffles behind the grille.

Right - that back-door was inclusive - looks like they were trying to do something with the various pressure levels across the grillle - or, not - coulda been just for increased airflow - I agree - it is a problem

Search 53013108AA in Google and it should be the first result.

Glad I found this thread. Does the Amsoil EAA airfilter still work with this air box mod?

I talked to the parts man at www.moparsupercenter.com today and gave him the list of part #'s given on the forum to convert over to the gas airbox. He said that they have intended to make it a kit and he did that as I spoke with him on the Phone so all part #'s listed by oldnavy and others are now available as a complete kit on their website. Go to jeep select Liberty Air cleaners and the kit will pop up as sku # PKKJAIR. $88.60 plus shipping comes out to $101.00 with shipping to CA. Thanks again to all the forum members who did the foot work Later Flatfender. :D

I ordered this the other day and it was $109.41 before shipping to Baton Rouge, LA. Total cost $122.36 :( I like the idea of getting this in a package though, rather than individually ordering the parts. No luck locating a Liberty in a junkyard within a 3-hour drive.

Here is the link to the package kit: http://www.moparsupercenter.com/liberty ... ml?cat=162

Will post when it comes in to update on quality of packing and product.

Received the kit in the mail yesterday, and I am very pleased. It was well-packed, and I was particularly impressed that the airbox included top and bottom as well as a new OEM (Wix) air filter. I still would have spent the same amount had I ordered just the parts and had to go buy a new filter to put in, so I am happy. I think it's neat to be able to just order a kit and be confident that you are getting the correct parts because of it.[/quote]

Yep. Why block the incoming air?
