Not to restart an old valid thread but for those that are new to installing Samco's. Wonderful hoses but they lack witness marks to line them up at each end. That's not a big deal as the general alignment is pretty obvious. However, precise alignment is critical to keep them from rubbing on other components in our rather tight engine bays. Hence before you tighten down on the clamps at each end be sure to closely inspect the routing of both hoses for proper clearance of other items that may rub. On the intercooler>engine hose I had to take a file to the corner of a gray wiring plug (don't know what it is) about midway down the hose to get a bit of clearance. Others may have other issues or none but I've seen at least one report of rather serious rub damage. Also as with any hose best check the tightness of the clamps after you have driven a bit. |

you are totally right. i inspected mines ( blue...am a risk avoider... ) and the one on the passenger side shows a big sign of rubbing against the vacuum valve. no hole yet but getting there...

MY stock turbo to intercooler hose has been rubbing the hood when close not sure why I never messed with it. I think a set of Samco is in my future, I'm going for green to match the Jeep edit just to see the cost I looked up the Samco. $255 shipped from boostcontroler. then I called the dealer to see what the OEM cost was. I called two local dealers. the first told me they never heard of a diesel liberty.... I hung up on them, the next dealer wanted $180 for the inlet hose and $121 for the outlet. so Samco is almost $50 cheaper. Are they that much better than the OEM? I know they get talked up here but if they are an upgrade and cheaper how can that be beat? I would like BR Green but those are not in stock so if I decide to order now and not wait I might get yellow. |

I just ordered mine today. OEM are cheaper if you buy online, but only a little. With clamps and 8 dollar 4 day shipping (East coast to West), mine came to $260 from boostcontroller.com (great place, helped with all my questions). I am sure they are better than OEM for the same price, even if I had to pay more. I don't think paying DOUBLE the cost if you had to ship from overseas would be worth it though. |

Nice post Darin B. If you just found a hole in your inter-cooler-air-charge inlet turbo hose like I did at 130K+ mi. this is a big help. So yellow it is from boostcontroller.com. Fast service & easy to work with. |

I have a loss in power and "sucking noise" but checked these hoses and with 95k miles they seem in good shape. Is there any way to test to make sure it is definitely one of these hoses causing my problem? |

At the risk of sounding inappropriate - Are you sure the "sucking" noise isn't a "blowing" noise? If your hoses have a crack/leak in them they will allow pressurized air to sneak out. Doing these this weekend on my KJ - trying to decide between black or blue. Black is less obnoxious, but I always loved SAMCO blue. I'm also getting rid of those horrible worm-gear clamps for something more up to the task.  We've got them at IDParts now too. |

Just ordered some Blue Samco's but I have a question for all of you! I just replaced the glow plugs (went with those Italian steel ones...which seem awesome so far) and I cleaned out the intake elbow which was almost completely plugged with oily soot and there was oil in the turbo hoses.  What I'm wondering is...will all of the soot and crap in the manifold just be pushed into the elbow that I've just cleaned and my new Samco's? If so, should I pull the manifold off and clean it out before installing my new hoses? I pulled out a lot of soot from the manifold (that I could reach with my fingers) when I had the elbow off, but I sure don't want the rest of that mess in there to make its way in to the elbow and my new hoses. Any thoughts? I hope I'm making sense. Cheers, |

I don't think it would have either! LOL I do have to get the GDE Ecotune done soon...cause that oily air is just going to clog things up again. Still wondering if it would be worth pulling the intake manifold off and cleaning that out. It has to be just as sooted up as that elbow was. So far I can't find anyone having pulled theirs off to clean it. Cheers, |
