I tow a camper trailer 4900lbs in West Texas with our CRD KJ and, before the change the temp guage would climb a bit up hill especially never hot but, I wanted a change. The changeover is simple and, works great. Oreilly Auto Parts carries a 14" fan that fits well inside the shroud of the 2006 up against the radiator. The mounts just slip through carefully and, then wire up a thermostat control kit all by Hayden which allows you to dial in the turn on temp as well as A/C on wiring etc. Now it pulls the trailer 70mph up down hills whatever no heatups plus the absence of the fan clutch fan allows the motor to reach operating temp quicker which will be nice this winter. Future plans are to change the cat to a Magnaflow 2.5" hi flow to go with my Cat Back system and, a auxillary trans.cooler.

hayden 3690- 13 7/8x14 3/4x3 5/8
Hayden controller- 3647 is a fin type which is my choice goes in the radiator fins adjusts 160 to 210 degrees

Hayden controller- 3651 is in hose type same adjustments

Has anyone else done this? I am about to have my fan clutch replaced and this seems like a nice solution for my CRD to warm up quicker in the winter here in Minnesota. Unless there is some consequence with a fan not blowing slowly 100% of the time such as the transmission not getting cool enough before the radiator would become warm enough to request the fan to be turned on. However, I would not guess that to be an issue.

If that is really something you are worried about, they do make tranmission coolers with a small fan attached.

considering this thread is a 17 months old and the original poster hasn't logged in for a year

you might want to pop the hood and take a guess at where/how you think it should be mounted.....

I ended up doing this mod this morning to the Jeep. I used the Hayden #3700 16" fan with the Hayden #3647 controller. The fan comes with 4 mounting rods that you push through the radiator from the engine side and clips on the back side. The controller was a bit more fun, the probe was just a bit too large and took some doing to get it in the fins. It only got up around 60 degrees outside today, but summer will be here soon and I am sure I will get to test it out some more. :5SHOTS:

Did you use the factory fan shroud with the E-fan?
