Ok went to O'Reiliey's and the codes that came up was the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Throttle Control Circuit Open. It was brutally cold out, and I asked the guy if he could get me the numbers. He was standing out in 6* weather in a short sleeve shirt. He was struggling to get back to where he was. He finally does, and the first one was the P1140, but I guess the cold got us all not straight thinking and I forgot to ask him to go to the second one.

Probably a p0403.
Did he clear the codes? That’s probably the most important part.
Clear the codes and see if they return. If those two codes do return, there is a problem with your tune.

You are going to have to get your own code reader. Not sure how you have survived this long without one. If you already have a android phone/tablet, a ELM327 Bluetooth and TorquePro app is the most cost effective.
(Even if you don’t already have one, Android tablets are pretty cheap these days)

Check my last post regarding the DTC condition. My post is absolutely accurate as it applies to the 2006 '808' tunes.

The comments about having all the DTCs eliminated are all from those using the 2005 '811' tunes. Not 808 tunes.

They Are Different.

If 808 DIY tunes have been modified for all DTCs to be eliminated, they are not saved among the ones available on this page.

Personally, I'm finding it worthwhile to get a completely custom tune, exactly the way I want it.

They did try to clear the codes and they came back. The tune is good. While my impressions yesterday seemed like they were next to nothing, I certainly noticed better acceleration today.

I see now. 2005s used 811s, 2006s used 808s. And to date no one necessarily has had an 808 tune to eliminate all of the DTCs. My objective honestly is to get it off and put it up for sale.

Ironically by me getting all DTCs to go off is probably more dishonest to a buyer than keeping the CEL on and explaining to them the why it's on. But I feel like if I keep the CEL and tell the prospective buyer that it's only on because of the EGR delete, they'll think that I'm trying to cover something else up.

Scroll up and read the post from Dez.

It's seems to me, more likely that you would lose sales opportunities due to the fact many states won't allow licensing with a CEL on condition.
You're limited to people who are familiar and experienced with this specific vehicle and willing to do the work or have it done.
I believe if you fix the DTC condition, and explain to the buyer that the EGR problems have been fixed, including the resulting DTC condition, your potential customer base would be larger.

Edit: Flash: I did notice Dez's post, and it makes my point. If you want a DIY tune for a 2006 CRD that has all of the DTC's eliminated, it's not found in this thread. Having them linked is a big help.

I am very grateful for all of the time and effort taken by those who have been able and willing to invest themselves in making these tunes available to those of us who are not able.

I am also grateful for the finessed commercially available offerings from GDE, even though it's a tiny market segment we represent.

This one:

I used the original EGR solenoid unbolted from the rest of the contraption, and the loom connector plugged in.

I just tried this. Still have CEL, but would it have to be cleared now that I have it plugged back in? I did disconnect the battery before plugging in. Also KS has no licensing issues with a CEL. Missouri likely has more of those issues to deal with, and since I'm near KC is half of my market pool. Like I said, my preference is to sell it without a CEL on.

Yes, I had to clear mine with a scanner tool after hooking the solenoid up.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I have a GED tune on one of my jeeps. It always shows a P0403 on the scanner, but does not show a engine light.

On another Jeep I just deleted the EGR and the FCV and uploaded one of the tunes from here. It has a light but from other codes that are not related to the delete function. Still trying to sort out the other codes.

With the tune the codes will always be there but not turn on the light.

I am I correct in thinking this is the way the tunes work?

My wife’s 06 has a full EGR delete and a GDE tune.
No check engine light and no codes for EGR on hers.

My 05 has a full EGR delete and a Yeti 811 tune.
No codes for EGR or FTV.

If your GDE tune is still showing codes for EGR, you may want to contact GDE to see if they can fix that for you.

If your DIY tune is showing EGR codes, you may want to contact Yeti or Dez about fixing it for you.

if is DIY I think people study and apply what they have learned ;-)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Worth it! ^^^

It seems many people get to the "free" part, and skip the DIY part.

Don't get me wrong, Free is Great! I love Free!

And for those that have the skills / knowledge and want to share their work, that's awesome!

For me, I had very specific wants, but no ability. It made sense to work with Yeti.

I am an extreme newbie, but can you tell me if these tunes are compatible with 7v glow plugs.
Thanks

You really dont need to read most of it. If you are looking for the hows and whys, thats the first few pages. If you are looking to actually tune your own jeep I would suggest these threads:
