I was just wondering if someone can help me understand what's going on when I try to read my 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD's ECU. The software shows 56044776BB and the label on the ECU is 56044776AF so I assume it's been upgraded to the latest version but I want to modify it. I can't read the data from the ECU other than the device ID etc. Galletto software gives me a read error and MPPS says "an error has occurred" and wants me to email. I picked Jeep Commander 3.0l in the Galletto program since that seemed to be the closest with no 2.8l option. the MPPS I picked Jeep Cherokee 2.8L Kline/CAN. Any help would be great. Thanks.

What is Galleto?

When using mpps, use 2.8L k-line/can.
If it's not reading properly maybe you have the wrong software version?

Galletto is another OBD2 cable & software I have that's similar to the MPPS. I'm using the latest software for both. Any other ideas since it reads the ECU ID just not the data? I was thinking the ECU might be corrupt and was looking for another opinion. Thanks.

I doubt the problem is with the ECU.
Check cable
Check software
Check drivers
Check com port #

I had read that the ECU can get damaged when people jump start so I thought maybe that happened with the previous owner.

So, it's normal for the software to read the ECU ID if there's an issue with the cable, software, drivers or port number?

Here's a pic of the date code reading the data from my ECM. It's all zeros, shouldn't it be a proper date?

The reason I think you have the wrong software version is because yours displays Mercedes hardware and software numbers.
When I hook my MPPS up it doesn't display Mercedes anything. Only Chrysler ECU, hardware, and software.
So if it thinks it's connected to a Mercedes, that would explain the errors.

You can see on the screen that I picked Jeep Cherokee 2.8L K-Line/CAN is that what you do? So you think my MMPS is the wrong software? Mine is version 16.0.1.8.

Hmmmm... I bought it from ebay as MPPS v16 with v16 software. Maybe I need to buy a V13 one since this didn't seem to work with v13 software. It's still strange that it will read the ECM ID and not the data though. The Mercedes thing doesn't bother me because that's just probably a programming language file it should still read the data.

Thanks for checking in Yeti. I ordered a v13.02 but it hasn't arrived yet. Hopefully I'll get it soon and it will work. Have you tried the Galletto hardware/software?

yes I have tryed , but the galletto for do his job need to be reworked and programmed with tool number 0475 , normally the v54 arrive with tool 0386 , the problem can be he don't read in BDM or Jtag Tricore , it's unstable and the sw need to be installed in win xp 32 bit for better stability , i don't use it , sincerely I have fear of this tool , can read and write fast , but can burn a chip like a flash , I'll prefer kess and Ktag , now you can find the mpps v18 and can do many vag and tprot 8 to 12 and give the marelli in boot mode from obd ;-)

edc15 , edc 16 mpps , marelli galletto ....and now new mpps ,the v54 0386 probably can't unlock the new pcr2.1 on audi

but the best tool remain the kess and ktag

Thanks for the advice. I could only get the Galletto working one time to read the chip IDs and then nothing so I basically gave up on it.

Yes, I have a v13.02 MPPS coming so hopefully it will work. If not maybe my ECU is corrupt. Hopefully I'll find out in a week or two.

That does look like a different version of MPPS than what comes with the ebay cables i have bought(13.02 or whatever).

I had one MPPS cable crap out on me despite no issues that I could see with it. It would not stay connected to my PC and would frequently disconnect. I bought a new one and it has worked fine for a couple of years now.

Also, watch out for the ECU software numbers from MPPS. I had a guy send two files to me, one from a 2005 and another from a 2006, but when I opened them in WinOLS I found out they were actually different software numbers than what his MPPS had automatically named them. Just verify them before you start flashing random tunes from the DIY thread.

Thanks for the information and advice. I'll proceed with due caution.

I finally got my new MPPS v13 and read my bin. Can an someone look at it and tell me what my glow plug codes are set for 5v or 7v? If so I'll add a link to it online. Or if someone can tell me where to look in WinOLS I can check myself. I searched but didn't find instructions.

Thanks.
