JAFO wrote: If yes, how hard was it and what tools will I need? It is not a hard or bad job! Tools needed include a floor or bottle jack to support the rear of the transmission. A socket in the correct size and a rachet or better yet an impact wrench. Drop the rear crossmember enough to remove the rear mount while supporting the transmission with a jack. Reverse the procedure after installing new mount... Done!

Need some help to clarify this please. The 4 bolts on top of the transmition mount that secures it to the transmission - what torque should these be? Is this 65 ft pound? The nuts on the transmission mount (sticking through the cross member) what torque should these be?? Should I put lock tight on them? Cheers Chris |

Cheers Chris I think these values are for a 3.7 gasser, but should be close? Could not find the rear diesel mount torque values listed in either the 05 or 06 FSM. When I replaced my rear mount, I simply tightened all the bolts with a cordless impact until I felt like they were tight enough... did not use a torque wrench; but many years of experience goes a long way in using impact tools safely and knowing when enough is enough!!!!  From the FSM:> 2005JeepKJServiceManual.pdf pg. 21 - 87 17. Install rear transmission crossmember. Tighten crossmember to frame bolts to 68 N·m (50 ft.lbs.). 18. Install rear support to transmission. Tighten bolts to 47 N·m (35 ft.lbs.). 19. Lower transmission onto crossmember and install bolts attaching transmission mount to crossmember. Tighten clevis bracket to crossmember bolts to 47 N·m (35 ft.lbs.). The diesel mount has no clevis bracket! hope this helps?

Thanks WW, that's exactly what I read yesterday. I use the same but do my final tightening with the torque wrench to make sure i dont over tighten things or under tighten things. Thanks for the reply though. Appreciate it. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk |
