after looking i found this to be easy and effective. I used a piece of sheet aluminum from home depot. folded one edge over to make a 90. then i used a 3/16 metal bar in a vice to beat a U shape into the sheet. cut 2 little pieces and fastened to the bottom half of the shroud. i cut mine a little below the middle of the shroud. The top half of the shroud slides in to the slots real easy and it seems to stay nice and tight once the upper shroud bolts are in place. Whoever thought of the 2 piece shroud idea gets thumbs up from me. This makes working on the front of the engine so much easier :)

It's a great idea, but I see you made the same mistake I did.

Just make absolutely sure, that if the fan is on the engine, that you never ever fire it up without the top half being properly installed and bolted to it's mounts. The fan WILL eat it. ask me how I know......

Nice mod!
I did something very similar using some scrap *Lexan I had on hand. (it is much stronger than plexiglass and the OEM plastic shroud material)
I made a sandwich on each side with the shroud plastic in the middle so the upper shroud slides down in between the two pieces of lexan that are pop riveted to each side of the bottom half of the shroud. Once the top half of the shroud is bolted in place, the bottom half cannot move at all.

:SOMBRERO:

*Lexan is a brand name for a polycarbonate sheet of plastic. This plastic sheeting is durable, heat resistant, and so impact resistant that some "bulletproof" glass is made of Lexan.

good warning. I never thought about that. Maybe a tie-wrap at the bottom would secure it. I'll see if that's possible.

lexan sounds like a good material to use.
