The electric fan does not operate with temperature rise or AC. but does with relays removed.
the question what would be the easiest way to get it operating, hopefully automatically
would it be possible to get power from the compressor clutch to activate the fan?

This should be able to answer your questions:

Thanks,
my AC. Is okay but no fan still on either.
any ideas on the compresser clutch activation

You can fit a toggle switch to turn ON the Aircon Clutch relay but maybe the system is low on refrigerant so the Low Refrigerant Sensor is stopping the clutch from engaging....forcing the clutch to engage with low refrigerant will destroy the compressor!

If you mean that the aircon clutch is engaging and you want to jumper +12 volts from the AC clutch to the cooling fan then you could run a wire from the AC relay pin 87 to the large cooling fan relay with a large diode in series with the wire. You may have to upgrade some fuses in this circuitry as the fan draws a fair amount of current

What year is your KJ so I can check the correct wiring diagram?
