Post subject:  TURBO leaking coolant?

I am in the process of trying to identify a coolant leak. For the past few months I have been toping of my coolant every few hundred miles. And in the mornings after a long drive there would be a puddle under the passenger side of the car. I took it to the local auto shop after i myself was unsuccessful at locating anything with my eye, but they too were unable to spot where the leak was coming from and one of the mechanics there said the word head gasket. so being terrified of going through the ordeal i set today to try and find where my leak was coming from. after taking out the airbox, skid plate etc to have a clearer view. I attached the coolant pressure test and set it to 15psi.

After a few minutes i saw dripping. the dripping seems to originate from the turbo flange. is this right? right under the turbo i think is the oil cooler. please correct me if i am wrong. but either way on this piece there was a yellowish goo like substance. which is a sign of water mixed with oil? but can this happen if coolant dripped for a passage of time on pre existing dirty crd oil stained engine?

are our turbos cooled with the coolant? why would i be leaking coolant from the turbo flange?

Any help would be appreciated. I have a vegas trip planned next week and want to also know if i could take the crd as long as i just keep topping off the coolant when it asks or just take another car?

Turbo is not cooled by coolant.
Coolant is dripping onto it from somewhere else.
Possibly the coolant tank or maybe the heater hoses.

went back to the garage and took more apart of the passenger side compartment. it is hard to see but it def seems to be coming out of that area where the turbo is attached to the exhaust manifold.

sorry for the poor picture.

The only way I know of coolant to get there would be a head gasket leak and also a leakingturbo manifold gasket.
If that's the case you should have noticed the exhaust leak first. When you start it up first thing in the morning do you get white smoke from the exhaust? It is possible but I would look closer at the thermostat assembly which is located just in front of the turbo.

I don't get any white smoke in the morning. But the coolant box holds pressure over night. I also did the cold start for a minute to see if it has immediate pressure but it doesn't. the entire area of the thermostat is bone dry.

If you have coolant leaking out from the turbo, you have a bad head gasket or a cracked head.
