Installed a 10 Row Stacked Plate Transmission Oil Cooler by Derale PN 13401 in the small opening below the bumper. It is 3 inches thick.
Did not want to add any more coolers in front of the already crowded stack above the bumper. I already have a fuel return cooler taking up a lot of the space on one side of the electric fan.
Plumbed it in series with the OEM transmission cooler on the downstream side.
Note: Cooler comes with -6AN (3/8") outlet cooler fittings.

Parts:
Note: Did not use all parts shown.

There is a lot of spam about, Makes it very hard for those running the site.
On a more important note, that cooler looks great. I like your stone guard.
I get a bit of slip in my TC at low speed when the TC is not locked. Probably the front pump. Its worse when I have been in traffic for a while. Guess its because the fluid thins as it gets hotter. Havent had a high trans temp code show up though. Its warming up down here on the underside of the flat earth, will see how it goes through our summer.

Will this cooler be sufficient if I abandon the OE cooler in the condenser?

Depending on where you are located, (your signature does not say)
Hotter climates may require additional cooling capacity (more surface area).
Probably OK for everyday driving, but towing may require an additional cooler or much larger cooler.
A transmission temperature gauge would be needed to really tell you the whole story.

Derale makes some nice remote mount with 2 fans attached, I mounted one behind the t case so it’s protected by the stock skid plate on the drivers side

That's a great suggestion, Derale makes some very nice coolers of all kinds.
And a remote location would help free up some room in the already crowded radiator stack area.

How did you set up the control logic for the fans, temperature sensor in the transmission oil pan?

I put it in the line to the cooler just before the cooler the tube and fin like you posted don’t work well at dissipating heat you gotta get a plate and fin, the one that fits best is part number 13740 and the wiring is part number 13022 it includes the temp switch, all you need to do is add the relay and wire it up. On my wife’s 02 cabrio it dropped trans temp by 25 degrees

And would it make sense to use a Derale Fluid Control Thermostat to ensure stable temp? I love in Virginia and it gets both hot and cold. Thoughts?

Some other owners may have installed one, I have no experience with them.
Personally, I don't think it is necessary unless you live in an area where it gets really cold.
I would think the fan control sensor would help control fluid temperature.

I have a transmission temperature gauge and the fluid heats up fairly quickly even in below freezing starts in like a mile or two and allows overdrive & lockup to kick in.
But if I lived where it gets really cold like down in the teens and below, it might be a real good idea to have one.

Agreed unless you live in Fairbanks there’s no sense in a transmission cooler all you’re asking to do is cook your transmission in case it fails lots of OEM transmission Thermostats have issues the newer Silverado’s the thermostat doesn’t open till almost 200° same thing with the Fords the only reason they use a transmission thermostat is for shift quality but for best service life ditch the thermostat and just do a cooler

Okay...I trust you all.

I will go with the remote system listed above and no thermostat. My OEM cooler in the condenser is leaking so I need to do something and would like to just abandon the OE and go with what is recommended here. This board has been a wealth of knowledge, experience, and invaluable information.
