Message received no huffiness required: I will edit the thread title to "starter REBUILD options".
My bad, I also should have noted that this 'banner' thread was being submitted as a potential sticky: I have another involved thread exploring my failed starter adventure in MX, ultimately yielding the 7.3 revelation/solution.
I can imagine others also being stuck in circumstances where only a 7.3 starter [body] is readily available and/or affordable whom might appreciate the info that it fits onto the 2.8's head, and that there's adequate mounting space on-vehicle.
If The Powers That Be saw this info as deserving (if novel) I thought they may think it sticky-worthy.
Cost: retail replacement $210 (napa in-store, +core) to $250 (ID after tax/ship, +core). This rebuild cost me $95 (& no shipping/core/tax), and now I've got the starting power of a 7.3 V8 (effortlessly turning the 2.8, maybe also the added benefit of longer life?).
Availability: True, @ Mexico (although stateside this week). As much as I practice CRD vendor-loyalty I wasn't keen re shipping time/core hassle @ IDParts (MA-SDiego-MA).
Related: Mexico does indeed have Autozone/NAPA/ Carquest(Rebranded "BajaAutopartes")*, however, the CRD was never sold by MX Chrysler so the 2.8 engine option doesn't even exist on MX retail databases = unobtanium. Also, parts warranties are not valid at US affiliate-stores (nor vice-versa).
*as well as Costco/Walmart/All fast-food, except Jack.
