In case anyone else needs to repair the top half of their plastic Air Filter Box.

I noticed the plastic outlet tube of the top half of the air box where the rubber boot hose going to the turbo clamps down on it was cracked. (Old age?)
Repaired it by cutting a 1/4" wide metal ring to slip inside the plastic outlet tube and then securing it with four very small pop rivets.
Repaired the crack in the plastic with some liquid plastic and then wrapped the outside with High Heat Harness Tape.
Worked perfect! :D

Good repair!
In the past when bean counters did not run the car industry most plastic outlets had a metal ring reinforcement. Could you have plastic welded the crack? I prefer to do that as there is no chance of glue flaking off.
Its good to see you like to make repairs better than new!

The plastic is very thin, welding would not be very strong, adding a metal ring inside the plastic tube provides a lot of strength in this area where the boot clamp is tightened down on the plastic tube. The liquid plastic I used bonds chemically with the plastic.
