I noticed last night that my part-time and full-time 4wd lights on my dash were not working. I did the self diagnostic, the one where you hold in the odometer reset button and turn on the key and the lights lit up for the diagnostic. My 4wd is working in high and low. There are no strange sounds, and I checked every fuse I could find and they all tested fine. Has anyone had a similar problem, and if so what was it? I'd hate to give my stealership another $106 for a deductable(extended warranty) and it still kills me that they charge tax on a deductable. Thanx for any help.

It may be a bad swich or dirt in the swich?

Do you realy need a light to tell you that you are in 4wd?
The condition out in front of the jeep should tell you what you should be in
the light is for show IMO

Could be a bad sensor on the tcase. Thats usually what it is. Most of the time the part-time light comes on when its in 2wd if its that though. :?

I think anybody with a pulse can tell there vehichle is in 4wd by the way it drives and feels. But, I am one of those people that has to make sure everything on my vehichles is working or it slowly drives me mad. My idiot lights make me feel warm and fuzzy when they all are working properly.

Same exact thing happened to me 1badkj. I took it to the dealer and they fixed the problem. It needed a sensor. Nothing to worry about.

Thanx for the responses. I wonder if the sensor is cheaper thean the deductable or if there is a way to test the existing one.

I notice you are in PA. WIth all the snow we had the other day, it's very [ossible that the switch is jammed with snow/ice.

During the big v-day storm we had in Feb, i was driving through some really deep snow and the 4wd mode lights on the dash didn't work even though the 4wd itself did.

As soon as we got a thaw a few days later they started working again. If you were in a situation where the snow could have packed around the T-case, I'd wait a few days before you take it in.

Great idea. I am waiting for a slightly warmer day to get under it to see if I can find and loose wires or apparent damage. Thanx again
