Looking to get a second PCM to send to B&G for programming. My current PCM has a sticker with the part number: 56044576AK, which is not listed in the '05 parts list. There is a 56044576AE, so i'm assuming the dealership did some kind of an update, then put the sticker on to show that the update was done. When i entered what i believe the original part number into a mopar parts database, i get the following:

Part number 56044576AE was superceded by part number 56044666AC.

Should i order a pcm with the original part number or with the new part number? If i find a used one significantly cheaper with the old part number (instead of a brand new one) will that be a problem? One other thing i should mention, the KJ is going back to the dealership for some more warranty work, so i can get my VIN number programmed into the new PCM at that while its there.

Thanks in advance.

***EDITED to correct original PCM Part number

Dealers update parts #'s all the time, when I got my new LCA's I had to use a updated part # even though the old part # was casted in it,the same as my old LCA's.If your PCM # was updated get the updated #,you'll be fine and it will be the right one.

Keep me up-to-date on how that goes Boi1ermaker. Ive been wanting to do that and Im alittle unsure about some things.

-Do you have the vin # and sentry key put on the PCM before you ship it to B&G?

-What all does B&G change? I wouldnt want to raise the Rev limitor since Im not changing anything on the engine itself.

-How much does B&G charge?

jeepster, i plan on calling B&G first and asking plenty of questions, and posting what i find out. I'm pretty sure the VIN, etc. needs to be programmed in before it goes of to B&G. KYLiberty has probably addressed this already somewhere. Another question i'll have is how future mods will affect the new flash; say for example i don't get around to the fastman TB until after the flash.

tjkj2002, thanks for the heads up on the part numbers. If i end up going thru a dealership or mopar parts site and i get it wrong i don't want to be stuck with a restocking fee. Good to know that the updated parts number is the way to go if i buy new.

If you want to upgrade it, just show them this number,

for the dealer, just give them your VIN number, and they will find it for you.

Just an update...i found a PCM matching my original part number (56044576AE) used for about $75 shipped, or about 30% of buying new. From all the info i've been given from various sources, this should work. I'm hopefully going to receive it mid week next week while the KJ is at the dealership anyway and bring it over there programming.
