Very liberating experience! I dremelled some of the front bumper and the pinch weld cover. Pounded that pinch weld down flat (scored the bend with a dremel first to make it fold cleanly). Didn't take long at all. I think instead of trying to plastic-coat it, I'm just going to rustoleum spray it tonight.

I did mine Sunday. I used a fillet knife to to scare the plastic 5-6 times. It helped to create clean breaks when I pried.

I used a camp saw because of its size and aggressive teeth

I then used a 3# hand sledge to bend it flat. I plan on hitting it with Rustoleum black hammered finish tomorrow.

If you live around road salt, I would spray some undercoat on this exposed metal (over the anti-rust paint). Anti-rust paint won't last very long exposed to salt spray coming straight off of a tire.

Thanks. I will. Since the Jeep is going to sit for almost a week, I'll let the paint harden up before I hit it with the undercoating...

undercoat and rustoleum, can those both be found at a typical auto parts store, or do I need to order anything special?

Rustoleum is a good primer. Might want to rough-up the metal with sandpaper and wipe with laqure thinner before painting. I like 3-M Rubberized Undercoating which I think Walmart/Kmart & most major auto part stores sell. I have used the 3-M product on commercial buses and it's held-up very well.
