Hmm, now that's unexpected.... :(

On mine the sound-dampening blanket of the hood is rubbing the samco hose right in that spot...maybe has something to do with it?

yea ive seen this as well, but this is on the driver side, the one thats sits by the fuse box and alt..... has anybodys elses failed? I had forgot untill I put the stock hose back on, that the stock one has a "sock" around it at this same point. Is everyone else running this hose with or with out the braided "sock"?

hmm, that is interesting i will pass that along to mark @ samco.

That is the drivers side hose, and if memory serves there is nothing remotely close to rubbing that on the bottom side.

darn! That looks like something sharp got on it. There is alot of material for a Samco hose to fail. Not impossible.

I seem to recall someone posting that the Samco balloons out quite a bit when under boost.

That's either a materials failure or possibly from an overboost.

You can see the the hose is dented inward and was resting against something sharp. Virbration from engine rubbed a hole in it. Installer error, no warrenty.

You can see the jagged sides and tapered ends clearly. Hose failure.

TOUGH call this, would think they would have too look at it to replace too see if covered under warranty, maybe take it too a place that repair rads and hoses and ask them to report for you before you send to samco

I too was worried about the rubbing (that's what caused a brake line to fail on me last year) so I wrapped the upper hose in this

Hose Sleeving, Magna-Braid, Stainless Steel, 6 ft., 2 in. Minimum Diameter, 2 1/2 in. Maximum Diameter, Each
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SPE%2D6008B&N=700+0&autoview=sku

Took a whole lot of hand soap to get such a large braided sleeve past all those bends but it looks pretty bulletproof now.

Samco has been contacted and is investigating the cause of the failure.

my oem hose rubbed and the mesh cover melted in the exact same place, second oem hose doesn't tough the insulation on the hood and has had no problems at all.

It's a tough call but I would lean towards failure and not installer error do to the fact that the tear is not "clean" like a puncture. It has more of a tearing look to it

It could of tear after a puncture making the hole bigger. Once the air start rushing through a hole, it won;t take long to rip it. Well lets hope Samco replace it it anyway so all here can feel better.

True, but from what I can see it isn't a clean cut. Now If we were able to see a better picture of the problem, them maybe we could decide.
