My side mirror on the passenger side seems to move on its own. I get my mirrors set up the way I like them and they stay in that position for one or two trips... then the right one will move out of place from where I told it (it comes to rest as if it were adjusted as far in the right direction as it could go).

I thought that maybe it might be due to a passenger slamming the door causing something to move around... but only the mirror moves, not the housing and this morning when I got in the liberty the first thing I noticed was the mirror had moved from where I had set it last night and I havnt had any passengers for a few days.

Its not that big of an issue - more of an annoyance. Its easy to readjust, but seems to happen rather frequently.

I have an '03 liberty sport - any ideas as to why my side mirror moves on its own?

stop plates - or something like that - must be missing or loose inside the mirror housing - this only if the mirror moves always to the same direction
set it up again, measure how much and towards which direction it moves to and move it again and see if next time it moves to the same direction as b4.
Then you will know that something is loose inside the housing

hope it helps

Gremlins dude... I'm positive

Sorry, I had to. Good luck figuring it out, that would start to bug me pretty quick!

KJ-BOL -> I'll start keeping track of how far it moves to see if there is something loose inside (how would something in my mirror (of all places) come loose? )

I've had that happen to me a few times. I really was starting to tick me off till I realized that when I sit a certain way my knee hits the mirror switch and if it's not switched to the middle it will move. I almost took it into the dealership untill I caught my knee in the act.

I thought there was a problem until I realized that I do bump the switch with my knee as well. Took a few readjustments to catch my knee in the act too. :)

Ok, I thought you guys were crazy....

But yesterday I got into my jeep, and the mirror was completely off. I assumed somebody walked by and hit it or something, so I just adjusted it back to the right location. Today while I was driving, I actually saw it happen. It made a loud "THUNK" noise, and the mirror jumped completely over to the opposite side. It wasn't something my knee could have possibly even done, it moved faster than it does when you hold down the button.

I re-adjusted it and then set the [L R] knob into the middle so neither mirror is selected to move. Hasn't happened since, but who knows. It's a little creepy
