a K&N air filter? Any noticable difference?

Lots of posts on air filters. Research and opinion = K&N allows more air flow, but doesn't filter the air well. Not good for the engine. Search some of the threads. You'll find the answer to your questions several times over!

Specifically cautioned against the K&N by the DC product support rep. The extra dirt it lets through with all that extra air can get lodged in the intercooler, especially when the intercooler is coated with motor oil. If you want more flow and better filtration go to www.trueflow.com and look at their foam filter drop-in repalcement.

Thankful to now be an EX-CRD owner.

And they will not pass the ISO testing with the filtering results of an OEM I bet. What really makes me think this, is none of these so called "fantastic best ever filters" never put the ISO test info on the filter as does OEM and I guess some "regular" after market that is sold in parts houses and I'm not even sure of those.

Google a search of ISO testing for air filters, maybe you can find us some new testing data.

Funny how they charge $50 so you think its the best filter ever. I think I'll just stick with plain old paper. Thanks for the advice.

I would have to agree with others here that K&N not recommended for the CRD. It does allow more dirt in which is far more damaging for the turbo and diesel engine.

Tried to locate the test results done by the Filter Guy on the web, but am having a little trouble. If you can find them, he posted a lot of pics showing what dirt came thru the filters he tested.

The WIX filters seem to offer the best combination of filtration and flow for off the shelf paper. WIX also makes NAPA filters. Stay away from the Fram filters. OEM filters seem to be ok from what I remember. If you go foam, the testing showed that there should be a primary and secondary filter. The foams do allow a better air flow.

I use the WIX filters with pretty good results. Which ever way you go, just do a little research. Enjoy!
