So I am at Camp Jeep ....

And Superlift is here ....

With the Liberator ....

And I start looking at it up close, crawl under it, etc, etc ....

One of the Superlift guys came over and we started talking, and he was CONFIDENT that they would be releasing this lift kit some time in 2007.

When looking underneath it, thier design for the steering knuckle was so good that it made the CV joint completely straight at rest, and the upper A-arm very straight compared to what we do to our KJs with traditional lifts. I cannot wait.

The only thing that concerns me is this - Superlift told me that all the other modifications (Quadra-Drive, etc) were not engineered by Superlift, so thier kit will not include bracketry or instructions for swapping in a different front diff. Wonder how our Dana 30a would handle some 33s with a lift that maintains proper suspension geometry?

Did you notice the year of that KJ? Thats how long SL has been telling us this is coming. If they put it on an 06 or later and I might believe they're actually looking at it.

This lift is sooooo dead. Let it lie in peace.

There is an article with pictures in the latest 4 wheel drive and sport utility magazine. They tell all the mods that they have made.

Hey Pixeldzn, I got the same story yesterday morning when I was checking out the Liberator too. They said they had a new KJ delivered to them (not sure if they meant '06 or '07) and they were going to begin design work in a couple weeks with a finished product during Q1 of '07. The guy seemed pretty confident of the date. Hopefully we'll get some updates as they progress with the work.

Take a look in the "venders forum" under Superlift.

Did it look like the Superlift kit incorporated an existing lift or would we have to start from scratch to use their design? If the latter is the case i would be more interested to see how Al's arrangement holds up and if he will be putting together a kit of some kind (hint hint....)

you know really, we don't know how the front diff is going to perform with 33"+ greater tires. I believe most of the failures have been due to air - and then a quick grab, which could be caused with a smaller or larger tire.

You could argue that with a bigger tire you would put less stress on it because you would have more traction so this happening is reduce, but on the other hand you could argue it the other way.

1 way to find out - we start doing it..... as KJs become older and they get paid off, hopefully this stuff starts happening and just maybe more fab guys will come out and try to retro fit another kindof diff up front while using the IFS.

you would have to argue the other way. the larger tire, even on pavement during normal driving will put more stress on the components due to increased weight and rolling resistance. off road this is just compounded as the increased off road traction comes into play. the only saving benefit is the lack of the shock load (which is what is causing the failures) caused when the wheel spins up and then gets traction

the d30a has steel internals which are strong enuf to run a 33" tire, the weaker points would be, in our case, the casing, and then the axle shafts.. So, regular rolling resistance shouldn't be a problem, it's the shock load that causes the case to fracture... which by having a larger tire which therefore is more on the ground and not in the air, you have less chance of shock load.

Just trying to say - no ones done it so let's not conclude the diff isn't strong enuf.....

In the article in 4wd mag it says it is only a 3" exhaust and tip.
